Star Wars May the Fourth Announcement?

I wish people claiming that CBS owns something would cite a source supporting their assertion.

Really all you have to do is look up either Viacom or CBS in a search engine. Both articles will tell you how Paramount was divided between them when the two companies went their separate ways in 2006 and who got what.

But you'll also find that essentially everything Trek after 2006 is either solely or partially copyrighted by CBS. Even this website has to acknowledge CBS as owning the copyright to Star Trek at the very bottom of the page.

It's not that hard to find, really. Wikipedia actually has a pretty good breakdown of it, but it essentially boils down to CBS acquiring Paramount Television and its various properties (including Star Trek), and Viacom keeping Paramount's movie division.

my idea was to add some more trade federation droids into Eps4-6. it makes sense, right? why wouldn't there be at least some wreckage from the millions of droids?

Given that Lucas has made some changes between the SE(1997) and DVD(2004), such as removing Luke's scream, it's certainly possible that Greedo shooting could be changed.


Another thought: Although it's the Star Wars site, it would be cool if it turned out to be the Indiana Jones blu-rays, as they're Lucasfilm's other major property. The DVDs are nearly a decade old (Apart from the Crystal Skull, which is already on blu-ray). I don't think we're getting Indy V at this point with Harrison nearly 70, so there's no reason to hold back the release. Plus it's Raider's 30th anniversary coming up soon.

The special editions of the prequels with cgi replaced with practical effects, decent performances by actors, a logical comprehensible plot and the removal of Jar Jar Binks and little kid anakin!!!

And the proper restoration of the GOUT onto Blu-ray!

AND a release of the star wars holiday special from the best available resources!!

Indeed, I was annoyed enough when Adywan did it, I defnitely don't want Lucasfilm to do it as well. No doubt they would do it ten times worse, by having them walking in front of the camera, looking utterly fake looking, and distracting you from the scene you are watching *cough* Ronto Butt *cough*

The original trilogy crew do encounter Clone Wars era droids on ocassion in some of the spin-off material. In one of the Rogue squadron games, Wedge crashes on Geonosis and fights some leftover droids, and Luke and Mara battle a Droideka in one of the later Zahn novels (Survivor's Quest I think). Some other source (I think the essential guide) says that some Super Battle Droids were reprogrammed and fought the Yuzzhan Vong in the NJO.


Also I think the thin droids (The one that knocks down the smaller droid) from the SE of ANH were sort of a test for the Battle droid animation for the prequels. That's right-the SE is practically a tech demo for the prequels.

It appears to be the announcement of the blu-ray release (9 disc) with the movies and 3 special feature discs.

Nothing jaw-dropping. They're including the old making-of features of the OT which is nice, I guess.

Still missing "From Star Wars to Jedi" though. I wasn't overly excited before and I'm still not. If the reviews are really spectacular, I might consider it, but the older I get, the less I care about special features and just want the movies, and in this case, the original editions.

It *was* sort of changed for the DVDs- to them both pretty much shooting at the same time, rather than Greedo a whole couple of seconds earlier.
