Favourite pizza?

Monical's Pizza-There are many locations in Illinois and several near the University of Illinois. They have spread into Indiana recently and have 4 locations in Indianapolis. I think there are a few near Lafayette, Indiana.

Is there anyone who doesn't love (or at least like) pizza?? Has anyone ever known someone who hates it? I can't imagine!

My girlfriend doesn't like pizza. That puts me in a pizza drought for weeks at a time. She will eat La Rosas pizza(a Cincinnati chain) or a Mariachi specialty pizza from Donatos-That is it! She will eat really weird pretentious pizzas if the pizza costs ten times as much as it should and has weird ingredients like goat cheese. There are a few places we've been like that. I don't recall their names and wasn't that impressed.

There's a place in La Jolla, forget the name. Favorite place I've eaten at in my area (though the best Pizza I had was in Chicago).

Anyways, my preferred pizza is -

-Pepperoni
-Sausage
-Green peppers
-Olives
-Mushrooms
-Extra cheese

However, since I'm a Cheap Bastard, my usual purchase is a Pizza Hut or Dominos cheese or pepperoni.

I don't know how I feel about Monical's. Their crust is almost too thin for me.

I'm a pretty simple guy. Double pepperoni. Not too crazy about thick crust, but the cardboard-like thin crust style pizza doesn't do it for me either. The pepperoni has to be cut very thin, too, so it curls and just starts to get crispy under the high heat of the oven.

I like the thin crust, but you can probably get a thicker crust. I haven't tried. I just grew up eating it. They used to have a deal called the Family Pleaser. You got a large salad with dressing, a two litre Pepsi, and a Large 16" pizza for pretty cheap(when I was a kid). The price is way higher now.

Pizza is quite possibly my favorite food, and while some of the locations here and there are what one would call 'disappointing', my favorite chain is easily Round Table. Yes it is greasy as all hell, but that bubbly chewy crust, the spicy sauce, oh lordy. . . literally, mouth is watering.

We make our own pizza. We start with Classico 4 cheese sauce, then add basil, oregano, rosemary and bay leaf, onion and garlic granules. Simmer for a hour or so.

For meat, hot Italian sausage, and pepperoni.

For veggies, crimini mushrooms, and black olives.

For the crust: A few years ago I picked up a french sourdough. Mild flavor, great texture. I got it from a guy in Idaho named Ed Wood, who is a retired pathologist (so he knows something about bacteria, which is what makes sourdough) and has collected sourdough cultures from all over the world. (He has a website, but I won't list it here). Sometimes we make the crust thin and sometimes thick, depending on the mood. Either way it is really good! Only drawback is it contains a local (if you live in France) yeast that takes about 8 hours to rise, but then, it takes the sourdough bacterial about that long to do its thing too.

We heat the oven to 550 F (as high as it will go) and use a peel and a pizza stone. Takes 5 or six minutes to cook.

Best pizza I ever had!

Original Ledo's in College Park, Maryland (not the franchise) - baked in a fifty-five year old wood-burning oven. Preference is for pepperoni and pineapple. The pepperoni is sliced not quite one quarter of an inch thick.
