Well I didn't make once since I was using the GateWorld live thread, but I'll sum up everything here.

These alpha gates must not be made of majority naquada or else that blast wouldn't have damaged it.

Also, Futura, lol. Brody/Volker/Park interaction FTW again.

Holy shit that city looked amazing and huge, I can't wait to see more of it next episode.

Better than Twin Destinies in my opinion, definitely one of the top episodes of Stargate overall.

I was very disappointed. This show always resets to zero. After about 5 minutes of the show you learn that they lost contact with the original new world and now they live like primitive hick villagers in a new settlement. The lost contact immediately signals that they are all dead.

The stasis pods from last week are all forgotten when it comes to oxygen consumption and CO2 buildup. The city they find at the end will of course provide no relevant supplies of any value, not even amenities left behind in buildings. The ship must always remain the same with maybe one addition per season. You wait a season and you get the control room or maybe the hydroponics bay. The repair robot repairs nothing. No matter what the ship always must remain a shitty piece of crap.

This show deserves to be cancelled.

Wait a minute...80-some people birthed a colony that later grew to near a million? Inbreeding X-Treme. A Martin Lloyd Production. Coming this fall on Syfy... Imagine Greater.

No, the math was done in a thread on Gateworld and I think all that was needed to provide sufficient genetic diversity is a population of 20 breeding pairs.

Hah, obvious Children of Time comparisons to be made - although, at least there were consequences and not an obvious reboot.

I was half hoping the two people would be the two guys from Season 1. Anyone remember when a couple of guys decided to run through the gate for some strange contrived reason and then everyone forgot they ever existed? It would have been a nice callback anyway.

Finally watched the episode, I really really liked this one. Can't wait for part 2. I really am sad that they didn't get another season to properly end the series.

A+ episode

Agreed, this first generation gate is not made of naquada, also helps explain their limited range, not enough super conductive material for a connection cross galaxy on their own.

The city looked amazing, to think they could have built all that from basically nothing.

Yeah I liked this one a lot. Not sure what they're going to do with all those people aboard unless they throw them all in stasis pods or maybe they can still get lime from the planet.

^ my theory, and its just a theory, is that somehow all the people on that world did escape before the volcano hit, maybe they are deep under ground, maybe they are on another planet, somewhere... and that in the next ep they will find them and re-unite all the people together and they will leave the ship

Oh, something that hit me while I was watching the episode, when they were talking about the two countries or factions that were created, it made me think about the same thing that happened with the Ancients and the Ori, the Alterans splitting up into those two groups. One side more religious, the other side more scientific. It sounded like here the Futura people were more religious, like the Ori, and the other group were more scientific like the Ancients. I saw that as a similarity here.

Lots of plot holes, and naturally a lack of resolution due to the two-part nature.

But still one of the best episodes of SGU to date. Stuff happened, the pace was the fastest of any SGU episode so far, not a hint of any Earth stuff or silly B or C story-arcs, because for the first time in awhile the A story-arc had more than enough meat to it.

It almost felt like a SG-1 or SGA episode in terms of rapid pace and lots of action, which was all to the good.

I have no idea what is going to happen, but I'm guessing they'll stick their passengers into stasis after investigating the dead world.

This was a silly but continually fun and audaciously far-out episode, even by stargate standards. I liked the multicultural look of the descendants.

Multi-cultural to some extent. But it appears they still can't find any people of African descent in Vancouver.

Great episode by the way. Now...I'm assuming Wray passed along her culture and her parent's native language but considering she is a lesbian, she wouldn't have had any descendents, right? And Volker would have died early on because of his eventual kidney problem (I'm assuming they wouldn't have had the equipment to even attempt a kidney transplant).

Either Wray has bisexual leanings, or since there were so few people, she "took one for the team". Or there's no relation, and she just passed on her culture.
And how many black people have we got on board Destiny? I'd expect race to be pretty watered down after 2000 years of breeding from only 100 or so initial people.

And I loved this episode. It moved along quickly, didn't waste time, Eli did something technological, and it involved gate travel, time travel, and a classic scifi scenario.
I was a little confused why the gate didn't blow up, especially since they mentioned it in a previous episode, so I'll assume these gates are different, rather than them just forgetting something like that. And the cliffhanger leaves them in an interesting spot, in a highly advanced yet dead city, and with far too many people on board. You know things are going down next episode.

3, maybe 4. There's Greer and Becker for sure, and I remember seeing a black civvie beck in S1 in one of the episodes.

Okay, so this episode was equal parts rehash of the ep of DS9 where the defiant went back a few hundred years, and "Lay down your burdens" from BSG with the whole "were here! oh, wait, its actually a wasteland. shit." moment/ending.

But ya know what? I loved it anyway. It was changed enough to feel fresh, and none of the solutions seemed particularly forced. As i've felt since the big C word hit, im going to miss this show. :(

One nitpick, before the droid planet attack, they talked about going to Novos and maybe fixing there gate so they could connect to the settlement plant and take the 30 settlers back (vs taking them all on Destiny) . Why are they worryed about fixing the gate on Novos?? There is a gate on Destiny that could dial the settlement planet when they reach Novos. The settlers gate to Destiny and then shuttle down to Novos.
