Or maybe the writers didn't care and aged the character up to fit into the series, happens all the time.

Except that during season 3 of MMPR there definitely was a connection between Skull and Kim, he was in love with her and she considered him a friend.
In Wild Force it was planned to reveal that Tommy & Kat and Skull & Kim got married and although the scene was never filmed, the idea caught on with the fans.

That's just a theory. Spike is supposed to be Skull's son (but it hasn't been confirmed in the series yet) and Kim was planned to be married to Skull during Wild Force ... so naturally many fans jumped to the conclusion that Kim has to be Spike's mom.

Because Adam appeared in Power Rangers in Space and again in Operation Overdrive and Jason, Tommy, Bulk and Skull appeared in Wild Force. The latter was also the episode were Kat and Kim were supposed to be revealed as having married Tommy and Skull respectively.

Well, I've just recently, belatedly discovered that my cable service includes free on-demand channels offering recent TV programming, and that's enabled me to catch up on the two Samurai episodes I've missed: "Sticks and Stones," which I started watching but gave up on after the teaser due to the bad acting, and "A Fish Out of Water," which I just missed for some reason. And I'm glad I watched them, because they're both pretty good. The monsters in both are pretty silly, and the acting is still lame, but there was some pretty good character stuff in both, some nice insights into the Rangers, their background, their secrets, etc. The person who plays Emily is not a good actress, but I'm actually starting to warm to her a bit now; she managed to be very sympathetic and somewhat sweet in "Sticks and Stones" despite having kind of a whiny voice. And Bulk and Spike managed to be not quite useless in "Sticks" too, actually making an attempt to go after the monster (barely) and being spectators for the climactic battle. For once they felt like part of the story rather than something totally unrelated.

My problem with "Sticks and Stones," though, is that the story revolved around a "bully" monster who physically hurt people by hurling insults at them, turning their emotional pain into physical pain or some such thing, and the Rangers voiced the episode's message that trash-talking and putting people down isn't cool; but then later on we had the usual scene of the Rangers fighting the "Moogers" and the monster and trash-talking them quite aggressively. Kinda mixed messages there.

I thought "A fish out of water" was okay

I'm still surprised Deker has Juuzo's trait of finding the ultimate warrior.

I like Sentai and appreciate Power Ranger's but even I think they're literally taking Shinkenger word for word/character trait for character trait.

It wasn't this bad during Time Force and Wildforce. Cole wasn't a veterinarian
    and Jen's parent's weren't killed by a monster.

Maybe Saban was able to mask the similarities better or maybe it's because i've seen Shinkenger already.

Since my cable provider's recent changes have moved Nicktoons to a tier of channels I already have, I was able to catch tonight's rerun of last week's "Forest for the Trees," and it was fairly good too. This show is turning out much better than I initially thought. So if they're just translating Shinkenger note-for-note, I can't really complain. There's some decent character development here and I'm curious to learn more. And Power Rangers has survived having weak actors before.

I wanted to address this whole Kimberly/Skull/Spike being a family thing: it stems from statements made by Amit Bhaumik, the writer of Forever Red, concerning something he wanted to do but wasn't able to do, which was to include an appearance/cameo by Kimberly in that episode as Skull's wife; with Spike having been confirmed to be Skull's son, people have decided to take Amit's original intent re: Skull and Kimberly and retroactively applied it to make Kimberly Spike's mother.

It's a nice little 'fanwanky' anecdote, but only if you can find a way to make it work given what we know about Spike (he's about 15, according to Felix Ryan), Skull, and Kimberly and the PR timeline as far as MMPR S3, Lost Galaxy, and Wild Force are concerned with regards to the most logical time period for PRS to be set in (which, as per established PR precedent, is the present day).

well spike now has a crush on the pink samurai ranger not that I blame him or anything . this weeks episode was fantastic . three sword fight was great and the
way the fought was pure samurai . This series just gets better . NOW the guy who
just wants a pure fight with the red ranger I am not sure how to spell his name so I am not going to try . any way is he a villian or is he going to be one of those characters who are redemable types. you gotta wonder how tommy feels about
    kim marry skull .

There's some speculation/questions out there as to whether or not, as per PR, Deker will be revealed to be a brainwashed or somehow otherwise corrupted Cole (former Red Wild Force Ranger), given that both characters are/were played by the same actor (Ricardo Medina Jr.). All we really know for sure about him at this point, though, are that he's obsessed with fighting the Red Ranger and has some sort of past with the rest of the Nighloks, one that involves him having enough respect for Xandred to ask for permission to target the Red Ranger and that simultaneously involves Octoroo distrusting him for some reason.

It's unlikely Power Ranger's Samurai will veer from what Shinkenger did and make Dekker the gold samurai

Also this weeks Gokaiger will be doing the Gaoranger(WildForce) tribute episode with the original GaoRed actor making an appearance
