Jeri slams Chakotay/7

I rewatched those episodes recently and I wasn't so blindsided this time, there were hints several episodes before something actually happened... But it was still just awful. Though they knew Paul was leaving and they had to do something with her.

Besides I thought how she made Apollo intro a fatty was awesome.

Is it possible that Seven and Chuckles might have felt so safe and secure in their relationship that they would have just plain let themselves go to seed?

Love isn't measured in orgasms, it's measured in cankles.

Chakotay/7 was the worst Trek relationship of all time, it even beat out Worf/Troi for me by quite a bit.

In fact it was the worst relationship I have ever seen on a major TV show period.
Even Apollo/Diwalla of nuBSG?

The 'relationships' in the vast majority of the soft core porn I have watched over the years were better written, had more development, and made more sense then Chakotay/7.

Proud of porn, are ya?:alienblush:

I guess I'm the only person who sees something like C/7 and thinks, "wow they must have spent a lot of offscreen time together.."
I kinda see the odd chemistry but it's mostly on the surface.
I can see Chakotay getting with Seven just because she's hot and he's lonely.(He wasn't waiting on Janeway giving it up anymore.) For Seven, she judged it by Borg ranking. Chakotay is the Commander/Alpha male on Voyager. So she picked him by status.

Chakotay is a lame Alpha male, even though he is the XO. I think Paris would have made a better one.
Tom Paris is a convicted felon, insubordinate & disrespectful.
I doubt one person in military would EVER consider him leadership material.
Tuvok would fly Voyager into the sun before allowing a walking joke like Tom Paris to be Xo.

Me too. Maybe not even "a lot," just enough to get to know each other better.

In "Survival Instinct," it's Chakotay that Seven goes to for advice about what to do about the other drones from her Unimatrix. And, unlike Janeway and the Doctor when they give her advice, he doesn't tell her what to do. He talks to her and helps her come to her own conclusion: survival is insufficient.

It's difficult to defend, because there would have to be some evidence, especially as season seven wound to an end, that they had a deeper friendship. Instead, we see a very officious and demanding "real" Chakotay in "Human Error"; he doesn't ask her why she's falling down on the job, as a friend would do. He just basically tells her to straighten up and fly right, or else. In "Workforce," he goes to Janeway, not Seven, to try to restore her memories and rescue the crue. And then there is "Natural Law," which reveals no special connection between them whatsoever (as Jeri's interview confirms). If there had been this "significant off camera time," the actors would have known about it and let it show up in their work. They didn't because it wasn't there. And that is why the relationship comes out of the blue!

And then, out of the blue, all of a sudden, they're dating (in "Endgame"). That was a little annoying, especially when you've specifically asked about it and they said, "No, absolutely not." Then, suddenly they're in love. That was a little ... It's one of the frustrations of network television.
I always thought Harry deserved a fair shot with Seven. And a second pip on his collar... Whatever...

I think a number of us did. I certainly hoped so, if only to give Harry something to do. Now, admittedly, I thought it was cute that Harry failed to get 7, but I expected him to try again, too.

I think the problem is that for most other types of relationships (best friends, significant others, married couples, socializing during breaks, etc) that we see on the show, there's always a background that implies or speaks about what they do together offscreen. Not so much with C/7, though .

Do we ever see them actually socializing except in Seven's holo-phantasy?

Seven went to him in "Survival Instinct." Their familiarity suggested that, yes, they did more than just give orders and obey them.

What do you mean, she went to him? Up until the 7 holoprogram, she couldn't stand Seven. In the episode where they went after the probe it was as if 7 thought chuckles was a lower form of life. He almost got them killed, he did the same thing in SUrvival Instinct...Chuckles was totally incompentent, no match for perfection.

Well, if the studio/producers/writers/whomever had bothered to lead up to it, there was plenty of stuff in common.

Chakotay was a “contrary” to his people and never quite at home with them or without them; Seven obviously didn’t fit anymore as a Borg or yet as a human.

Chakotay’s and Seven’s minds were linked when she was detached from the Borg--so they had quick but full knowledge of each other. Seven was never shown to have been linked to anyone else after being separated from the Borg (not talking about Axum, I mean mind-linked).

Both had sacrificed their ships to save Voyager. Either each had quickly calculated that this was the best chance for success or had a good sense of judgment. The point is that BOTH did this.

Both adored Janeway in their own way, yet fought with her. No one else on board so consistently disagreed with Janeway while continuing to support her.

So much could have been done to lead up to C/7. And this is from someone who would have preferred stories leading up to J/C!

You're suggesting that individually they didn't stand a chance of bedding the captain, and this whole "relationship" was just a cunning ruse to consolidate their positive attributes into a single unit that might catch Janeway's eye?

Barney went on about this on "How I met your mother": "I'm a Nine, which means that I can approach without any fuss an 8, a 9 or a 10 and expect to have decent returns, however depending on what's available, I may have to settle for a number of women that add up to nine, like a 4 and a 5, or 3 threes or if the night intends on getting really freaking 4 twos and a one."

So it's really just a question about how Chuckles, Seven and Janeway are arbitrarily "rated" by the fickle hotnessmeter.
