Enterprise blu-ray

What are the odds of this one coming? Seems to me the next logical blu-ray release, given that all the other series would have to have their SFX re-rendered in HD, while Enterprise was mastered in HD from the outset. I'd be keen on seeing this in blu-ray high def, and with an armload of extras!

I'd say the odds are quite high. I'm sure ENT will be the next Trek series to make it to Blu-ray. It's the only one that wouldn't require massive remastering and the total redoing of all special effects and editing.

Even though it's the easiest to transfer to Bluray, I'd say it won't happen until Bluray is common for series and they start rereleasing everything. I think it's still a while before we get to that point. I hate to say it, but ENT is probably by far the lowest priority and demand when it comes to Trek.

ENT is releasable on Blu-Ray right now. It requires no remastering or new effects - no more work at all. It can make the most money, in the least amount of time (the massive reworking that TNG, DS9 and Voyager would require, far outweighs what money they could make from that). Therefore, by sheer logic and business sense, ENT *must* be the next Trek to make it to BR.

And as we've seen from shows like Lost, Mad Men, and such, Blu-Ray *is* becoming common for TV series.

It's definitely common for new series to be released on Bluray, because people don't already own these shows, and as you said they require no work beforehand. But we're not at the stage that DVD got to where every old show got re-released on DVD. At the moment the manufacturing costs are probably too high to make a profit on these older shows. But like you said, ENT for the most part doesn't require the work of the other Trek series to release, so maybe. I just don't know if the demand for ENT justifies it yet.

It'll be done to coincide with film XII or XIII, if ever.

They can print "Watch these to get the beagle gag" across the top of the box:)

Got to be honest... I already own the complete series on DVD. Not sure I'd go rushing out to buy a re-release on BRD.

They look pretty sweet already.

I too have the DVD set, but also watched (and had some of my favorites) DVR'd from the HDNet broardcasts. Trust me when I say native HD (in 1080i but Blu-rays would be 1080p) looks much better than upscaled 480p.

I'd buy a ENT Blu-Ray set in a heartbeat.

Got to be honest here... I watched the same HDNet broadcasts and couldn't tell much of a difference in quality. In fast, action scenes the DVD's are actually superior as they have no 'macro-blocking'.

I wonder if ENT and TOS remastered will be in HD when it arrives on Netflix this coming month.
