Blake's 7 Revisitation (rewatch)

Re: Balke's 7 Revisitation (rewatch)

I rewatched S2 earlier this year and "Redemption" made me wonder...

If the people of "The System" only wear catsuits and plastic bibs, how come Blake and the gang found a room full of flouncy outfits on the Liberator? ;)

Dang, I forgot to mention that, thanks for the reminder.

I was sure when I saw Blake wearing those puffy sleeves, he had the course set to Woodstock World, LOL. What in the world were they thinking, LOL.

That the 70's bad taste in fashion would last centuries?

Plunder from their conquests? What they wear on Sundays?

I find it funny that after over 100 posts the thread title still hasn't been fixed...

I can't edit the first post title and no Mods popped up to help when I asked in the thread, and I even endured Balkie Bartakamus jokes while making another plea, heh.

Re: Balke's 7 Revisitation (rewatch)

It is interesting that the contents of the Liberator (clothes, jewells etc) doesn't fit with the System, I'd guess either someone else had managed to take the Liberator before Blake and co, or else maybe the System were exploring other words and wanted to blend in? Need to remember as well that Deep space Vehicle 1 (Liberator) was found by the London at the edge of a huge space battle...maybe the System had had a civil war and DSV1 had been on the more bohemian side :p

I dodn't mind the outfits so much, whilst there's a definite 70's vibe to them, they also have a hint of the medieval about them which adds to the Robin Hood vibe.

As with many elements, the costumes in the show were either really well done, or really bad!

Re: Balke's 7 Revisitation (rewatch)

I always felt they were great. It gave a nostalgic feel (and a proper fashion sense) to the future, something other shows seem to miss these days. Other shows are just all catsuits and uniforms.

Yeah, and a lot of them are brilliant in their simplicity...take the Federation Trooper outfits, cheap, practical and very threatening.

There were some missteps, silver jumpsuits rarely ever work!

S2 Episode 2 Shadow

Every show needs a "Drug Conspiracy" episode, Blake's 7 is no different. I liked it, though.

We had Cally using her Telepathy again to get them out of a Jam (and doing it in a big way, showing Liberator's Offensive capabilities). Was this the first time we've Liberator using weapons? I don't recall having seen them so far, and was starting to wonder if maybe I had remembered wrong that Liberator had mean guns.

Of course, as mentioned previously, we are treated to Avon's classic "stupidity" line. We get more of Avon exposing how much more intelligent he is than Blake.

We also learn, if necessary, the whole crew could leave Liberator, because ORAC can operate the Teleport Device.

And ORAC goes mad

^The Orac-turning-evil bit was fairly decent, I thought. It showed Orac as a potential threat, as much a help, and it was a little creepy.

Well, ORAC did blow up Liberator's sister ship just so his prediction would come true!

And I can't believe 8 pages and no mention of Servalan or Travis!

There's been lots of mention of Servalan and Travis, in the episodes they appeared in.

Just finished watching "Sand" with Hubby. I like how they've got Servalan in black all the time now, as opposed to her mostly white clothes from before "Sleer."

She's so over the top and grand in everything she does--her walk, her gestures, her smiles. Jaqueline Pierce must have had an absolute ball playing her.

Servalan: "But Tarrant, I'm just the girl next door."
Tarrant: "If you were the girl next door, I'd move."
Servalan: "Where would you move to?"
Tarrant: "Next door...."

:guffaw: Somehow those lines are a little jarring. Not quite out of character, but not quite "in-universe" but I love them anyway. This is a fabulous episode.

Jackie was such a big girl crush for me. So much so that when I met her as an adult I couldn't acutally speak! What a loser!

Yeah, I just noticed now when I clicked 'First Unread' I was taken back a few pages from where it took me last time!!

Frakking PS3 internet browser, can't wait til my pc's back from the shop.

I think this discussion has definitely swung me to getting the dvds.

It really ticks me off that the dvds aren't even available, and may not ever be available, in the States. I would buy these in a heartbeat, and I know quite a few people who would rent them (via Netflix or some other source) if they could.

But the BBC appears to firmly believe there is no market for it. ARGH.

It's noted that she starts wearing black after the events of Children of Auron...so it may be that she's just still in mourning :)

Shadow is excellent, if only for showing up how misguided and downright scary Blake can be. He wants to ally himself with a drug dealing crime syndicate...worrying!

S2 Episode 3 Weapon

Cool a Servalan/Travis Episode. They're awesome.

Whoa...waitaminute...Why is this musclehead with an eye scar (Which, BTW, has shrunk,
LOL) fantasizing about killing Blake, and this woman is calling him Travis? Where's
Hugh Jackman Travis? Why was he recast? Bummer, I remember now this one never
measured up. But, perhaps a new viewing will change this for me? Though, Servalan
seems to like this one less, too. She even hires a Blonde Man to do what she had no
faith in nuTravis to do

So, a clone of Blake and a Weapon called IMIPac,

Orac is still snooty and Avon once again expresses his opinion of the
stupidity of the Plan to deaf ears.

Jenna: "Maybe IMIPac is another ORAC and we can breed them"
Blake: "What a disgusting Idea"

So...IMIPac is a weapon that targets you annonymously with a gun, and then
executed with a Switch box. Nasty Weapon.

So, Servalan has target marked Blake and the others (and nuTravis), and allows it
to look like they escaped with IMIPac.

Clone-Blake and Servant Girl mark Servalan and take IMIPac.

Never cared very much for "Weapon." The idea for the weapon is fairly cool but the scientist was so over the top, it was a bit laughable. And the bit with the clone masters was severely cheesy.

And, yes, I also think Travis 2.0 just doesn't measure up, neither does his new "outfit." Not nearly as classy or enigmatic as Travis version 1.

Ah yes Carnell.

He later turns up in a series of audios call Kaldor City which is a spin off from the Doctor Who story Robots of Death and features Paul Darrow as Kastor Iago as well as B7 cast members Brian Croucher (Travis MkII) and Peter Tuddenham.
