I skipped over some of the off-topic argument mid-thread, so apologies if this was covered. Am I remembering wrong, or did the duplicate Destiny not appear to 'blow up' as it was swallowed by the star? The chair was doing its steam thing while Rush sat in it, so it appears he was about to be sucked into the computer and TRONifiedlike the last guy.
Also, did anyone else notice that the hulu scene selection function doesn't show the scenes from Twin Destinies, but from another episode of SGU??

It got engulfed in the star, so it would've melted/vaporized instead of blowing up like ships usually do in a space battle. Besides, at that point it was so screwed over that there probably wasn't anything left capable of causing secondary explosions.
Plus it looked cooler than the normal explosion we would usually get, although not as cool as seeing the ship turn into a cloud of particles as the heat boiled off the hull.

Yeah I noticed no explosion as well but that may not be significant.
The last two weeks with "Twin destinies" and "Alliances" have not been kind in ratings

My cable system had the wrong episode up on their on demand menu until the day after I emailed them, they blamed SyFy. Twin Destinies finally showed up on that Friday.
About the ratings, I think a lot of people missed the scheduling on it coming back, now that they changed the date and time again, there wasn't much advertising this fact, and people didn't know it had returned and on a different day to boot. Syfy has royally screwed up SGU due to all this schedule shuffling.
Meanwhile on broadcast TV in the timeslot Hawaii 5-0 is CBS's biggest new hit and by the time SGU came back Harry's Law became a suprise hit for NBC.
True, but they didn't get there from Friday to Tuesday to Monday after a long hiatus. I'm not saying it's totally to blame but I wouldn't doubt it's some factor.

Syfy say that it didn't make sense to keep SGU on a Friday because the ratings needed to improve there, and doing nothing would have been stupid. They neglect to mention that this season SGU would have had a 3 million+ wrestling lead-in this season had it stayed on Friday, while the season before it had a repeat for company. I still think that both SGU and Caprica were moved to Tuesday to die.

Which would mean nothing since it's canceled

That's absurd.
Proving it: They were getting excellent ratings for the The Next Generation lead in the first have of Season 2. But those people didn't stay when SGU came on. This half of the season Being Human is getting much better ratings (considering production cost) and this week (much like last week) 300k viewers instantly leave.
SGU has a bunch of stuff against it.
The Late Night Time Slot because of it's adult material
High Cost
A SGU SUCKS campaign (made by the fans)
The Determination of the Producers to force what they want
The lack luster story-telling.
This show is hairy candy.
Everyone that doesn't mind hair on their candy LOVES IT.

As if those clowns had anything to do with it. Didn't their site descend into a soap opera, and now there are two sides at each others throats? They couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery let alone the downfall of a TV series!
I disagree. It's simply a very niche sub-genre, perhaps too niche. The only other sci-fi character dramas I can think of of late are Caprica, Defying Gravity and Outcasts, and we know how long they lasted. I'd put this down partly to the bulk of sci-fi fandom wanting light, action orientated romps, and those interested in serious drama simply not trusting science fiction on TV to provide it.

Just because the show is a "sci-fi character drama," that doesn't make it a good one. Or even a mediocre one. The writing is shitty. 'Course, that's been a problem with Stargate for ages, but even in comparison to the other series in the franchise, this one takes the cake. By a huge, huge margin. At least the others made up for it by going down the light road, rather than trying to be deep and thought-provoking.
When you're only real argument is basically "well, it's the only one on the air, ergo it's the best of all the ones on the air," even self-denial isn't going to get you far.
