^ I certainly wouldn't rule it out. There is almost always an initially freak out period when early images like this are released. (One of the reasons, I suppose, why studios don't really care about releasing fairly unimpressive images initially.)
This is true. I don't think there's ever been an instance in the modern era when the first images from some new comic book movie were not greeted with much nit-picking and wringing of hands. It's pretty much a time-honored ritual by now.
At this point, I imagine that Hollywood just considers it an inevitable part of the process. "We put out a photo, the internet goes nuts, and it all blows over . . . ."
