It was a good episode.
But yes it doesn't make sense how an entire ship was sent back in time when flare events only send the occupants of the wormhole back in time...
It was intense but predictable.
Since this is the first time that the power source for a gate was present at a sun's flare origin point, the temporal field probably was generated by the ship's power reserves (when the wormhole became unstable) or they amplified the time warp created by the wormhole.
We've seen a black hole's gravity affect the other end of a gate connection. So the amplification of the temporal anomaly could be credited for the entire ship being pulled through....McKay would agree.
Well I'll note this:
The stargate has proven that gravitation effects have proceed ahead of the event horizon effecting time but this is the first time it's actually reversed time instead of merely slowing it ahead of the event horizon and the gravitational field.
What they're implying here is that the Destiny passed through a wormhole. Try this on for size...MAYBE Destiny intercepted its own outgoing wormhole because of massive gravitational and magnetic flux? IDK
This would be the first time an intangible wormhole actually interacted with a physcial object and transported it.
Greer is awesome as always!
I thought he was a Neanderthal/Jerk as always..
I mean did we really need to hear his stupidity on the likely hood of their being 2 Rushes or not? Hearing him speak and interact with everyone else like watching dog interact with university professor...
at least they write him consistently.
I loved this episode! I'm a sucker for time travel/alternate reality stories to begin with, but I absolutely loved this one. They really made us feel like there were two Rush's there, I never once felt like it was just one, it felt like two, and it felt like two different ones to boot.
Of course, you'd expect the other ship and rush to dissapear immediately once they deviated from that timeline, but its Stargate, things do work differently. You'd also think the parts would dissapear, but oh well, I guess they don't.
Anyway, that kinda stuff aside, it was very cool, and I like the twin destiny aspect. I guess they did not end up getting that other device that would double the power of their weapons, oh well.
All in all, A+ episode, too bad the show is canceled really, seems like its on the uphill now. Just when it was getting good too.
But finially it was SCI FI! I just happened upon the show on Monday and I saw Telford dead...and I was like (FINALLY!) So I decided to see what happened at the repeat showing at 12:00.
To my surprise...it was GOOD.
Best episode they've ever created by a far 14 Billion Lightyears.
The characters didn't bicker unnecessarily
Surprisingly no sex (thank you )
The plot progressed with out contrivance
There was no plot holes
The Drama was delivered very competently
There was mystery and REAL SUSPENSE
If only they did this from day one.
Now I'm under no illusion. It's getting better because it's canceled, just like ENT got better under the threat of cancellation (and not a whole lot better either). This however IS a whole lot better. I enjoyed it despite the fact I have no investment in the characters' well being.
(ONE STICKY POINT)
I don't believe the characters such as Cloe and the Dr and Eli were prepared to stay. They all have reason to GO GOME. Really big reason too. The Dr didn't want to be there and she lost a child. Eli's mother is DYING and Cloe has lost her father and is a civilian.
Rather it's the scientist with the invested intrest in the project that have every motive to stay and discover the secrets of the universe. In other words it was quite a role reversal.
While I buy that Young would have stayed.
I buy that Greer would have stayed just to follow Young and Scott.
I have no opinion on Scott and James...it's belivable that they would stay as they have a commitment as SGC personnel to protect.
