When the Grammar Nazi's strike!

No one is perfect when it comes to grammar. I see all the time where these grammar nazi's spell wrong on their own posts. Lets just admit it, its easier to correct someone else's post than it is our own.

Everyone makes mistakes; God knows I sure do. But there's a difference between spelling and typing errors, and not knowing the difference between, say, it's and its, or wrong vs incorrectly.

OK, I'll stop now.

In this case you made a mistake. I didn't spell wrong a different way. The difference between wrong and incorrect isn't about spelling at all.

No, it's a word choice error. Wrong implies a moral choice, while incorrectly refers to it being a mere error.

I grade exams for a living. Can you tell?

OK, now I'm done. No, really, I'll stop. I will.

I think that is a matter of opinion. I have been taught constantly in high school by teachers who fine comb my work. I have never been corrected on the wrong part.

Would a semicolon have been more appropriate? Remove the well.

This thread isn't about spelling; it's about grammar.

I don't think I have to break that into two sentences if I don't want to.

Wrong implies a moral choice, while incorrectly refers to it being a mere error.

wrong  – adjective
1. not in accordance with what is morally right or good: a wrong deed.
2. deviating from truth or fact; erroneous: a wrong answer.
3. not correct in action, judgment, opinion, method, etc., as a person; in error: You are wrong to blame him.
4. not proper or usual; not in accordance with requirements or recommended practice: the wrong way to hold a golf club.
5. out of order; awry; amiss: Something is wrong with the machine.
6. not suitable or appropriate: He always says the wrong thing.
7. (of clothing) that should be worn or kept inward or under: You're wearing the sweater wrong side out.

I’d say that errors in grammar, spelling and usage are covered under definitions 4 and 6, and possibly 5.

A semi-colon would be fine, too (and you could even keep the "well"). I was mostly correcting the comma. :D
