A Dance With Dragons is finally coming out

In other news, Hell has finally frozen over.

Great to hear! I plan on starting a reread of the series shortly before the show starts, so I should be done with AFFC by the time July rolls around.

I decided with the huge delay I was done with the series until (if) it ever finishes. My reasoning being that the TV series is starting and if it manages to succeed it'll have its own ending (possibly before GRRM ever finishes the books).

This and 'Duke Nukem Forever'?!

Somewhere out there a nerd has one wish left.

I read the first two books for the first time last year, and I kinda put myself on pause to read other things and to wait to see if Martin would actually release any more books. I think I'll go ahead and start looking for copies of books 3 and 4.

I hope it ends with Tyrion turning into a robot and there's a fifteen year wait before the next book.

I just started reading the 1st book, after seeing the HBO previews... I really like it so far.

So I'm glad the author is still planning to finish it.

Whoops! I posted a thread on this just a little bit ago, having somehow completely missed this one. :wtf: Sorry!

Oh well. Like I said in my thread, this just makes July that much better for me, as Ghost Story, Jim Butcher's next book in The Dresden Files, will also be released in the same month. :techman:

While I won't firmly believe it until I hold a copy of the book in my hands... This is still great news!

Cheers,
-CM-

Back in January when George sat drinking a glass of wine and telling us he was almost done I smiled and nodded and went to my happy place where I'm a viking and my favorite authors are realistic in their estimates. If he is actually putting it on the line with a release date though I might actually be able to let myself get excited.

VALAR MORGHULIS BITCHES.

Cool news, half expected this one would never really happen. On the plus side, I'm a fairly recent convert to the series (within the past year or two), so I just finished the last book 5-6 months ago, and my wait hasn't been NEARLY as long :)

I started reading the series in 2004, and I recall being impatient for book 4. Oh, how naive I was.

And this is exactly why I'm waiting until the last book has a release date set that I can trust to read the books.

You can always just read the first three, as that makes for a very natural breaking point, then wait to read the other four when they're done.

Hmmm......I didn't realize there was a good stopping point.....I thought each book ended on more or less cliffhangers. If I can read the first 3 and quit then I might consider doing that based on how good everyone says the books are.

I'm guessing he and Jean Auel is members of the same club.. ;)

I've decided to wait until the whole series is finished. Burned myself on "Wheel of Time" with the waiting, and there it was only 2-3 years between books.
