83rd Annual Academy Awards Show: Discussion/Commentary

I'm still hoping for an upset in Best Actress- as good as Natalie Portman was in Black Swan, Annette Bening just nailed it in The Kids are All Right.

At least the audience isn't clapping this time. I always hated hearing the audience clap for the most popular people but not for the lesser known ones.

Agreed. The montage is to honor all, not just the popular ones. But the Oscars should do the In Memoriam montage like TCM does. TCM does it with class...

How does TCM do it?

Better song, video clips, longer duration. I like it better, but to each their own..

Good for The King's Speech and Tom Hooper. Although I still feel Christopher Nolan should have gotten it.

I thought she was good, but I thought she wasn't even the strongest actress in that film; I thought Moore was better.

Portman needs to win. I love Moore and I love Benning, but Portman just nailed the mental disintegration. Quite frankly, I didn't think she was a good enough actress to pull it off, but I was completely wrong. I'll never doubt her talent again.
