Most disturbing scene in star trek?

Remmick. I'm amazed that was allowed on television (as I understand it, in some places it sometimes was not).

Other nominees are:

- Reconstructing the aliens' "abduction room" on the holodeck in Schisms.

- Nagilum offing that Conn officer in Where Silence Has Lease.

Shame Wesley wasn't at the conn that day...but can you imagine if TPTB actually -had- offed Wesley that way?

I'll add a few Voyager moments, a show good for producing disturbing scenes:

Neelix' nightmare with burn-scarred Kes in "Jetrel"

Neelix' nightmare with the little girl who taunts him in "mortal coil"

That Vidiian with the human officer's face in "faces"

the transporter malfunction in tmp.

Ditto.

^^It was that scream that sold it for me.

Yep. Both of them.

When Charlie X made that woman's face disappear.

(That freaked me out when I was a kid.)

Despie not being a TOS fan, this was the first one that came into my head when I saw the question too.
It's quite creepy when you see it as a kid, at least in my experience.

Me too.

I'll also float Vanna being tortured by the rays in TOS: The Cloud Minders. I was a child when I first saw this, and it left a mark.

In a similar vein, I also found the execution scene in VOY: Remember disturbing.

Also, there's something about the phaser dematerialization effect in TOS that is more disturbing to me than the same in any other series. Maybe it's the choice of color, a bright blue-green color, that is more often associated with ghosts, than the flame reds and oranges used in all other series [IIRC, except for TAS which used white flashes]. Subconsciously, to me it's as if turned directly into a ghost is a little creepier than being burned away, even though the Terrell scream obviously indicates conscious pain. I wish they had used the TOS effect in In a Mirror Darkly, part II.

And, let's not forget the Varon-T disruptor killing Varria in TNG: The Most Toys.

Gosh, I guess I find Star Trek quite disturbing.

David kirks son getting stabbed to death in TSFS always scared me when I was a kid .!!! And terrel zapping him self in TWOK

Picard and Riker blasting Lt. Commander Remmick's head off in "Conspiracy". I just sat there thinking, "Wow- did I just see that?!" A pretty disturbing image, and not what I was used to seeing on Star Trek....

Never mind them blowing off his head. Him eating up that crab-roach hybrid thingie was far more disgusting imo. :ack:

Yeah, I agree- that image was not so good, either! Especially right after they had all been chowing down on those bowls of worms......

Another scene that startled and creeped me out was in "Wrath of Khan" when McCoy turned around and walked into the bloody, dangling arms of that corpse that Khan had left hanging upside down after torturing and killing the man.

How about Kes making Tuvok's blood boil? That scream she has after she realizes what happened is almost more horrifying than Tuvok's green face.
