This. The Doctor Who episode could well end up being more fun than the Pirates movie, too.

From the trailer, it seems as if the doctor was chained up in area 51 for a long time. Enough time to grow a long black beard.

It could be that he's been there since the Roswell crash.

Another Roswell centric ep of a show. How many of those have we had...

Seriously though, could be a cool idea..;

The doctor goes back alone, for some reason, to the Roswell incedent, never returns to the present but leaves a message in time somewhere for Amy/Rory that the feds got him and locked him up after finding him at the scene with a blue box thats bigger on the inside and a sonic screwdriver. After scanning/xrays reveal hes not human. He ends up there for approx 60 years never ageing, thus crossing his entire timeline (all possible eleven of them)

The Doctor and Craig were great together, I'm glad they are bringing him back. I guess it isn't surprising as that mysterious seeming Tardis is a plot element asking to be returned to.

Well, that other console room seen in The Lodger was in the S6 trailer that aired at Christmas. I guess it stands to reason that's from the same episode that Craig will be in.

How soon before we begin debating whether or not Craig can be considered a companion?

They've already filmed the scenes for the proto-TARDIS, which judging by the clip of it in the trailer is from the opening two-parter. James Corden is yet to film his scenes and the only episodes left to start filming are 8, 10, 12 and 13. The smart money is on Corden returning in Gareth Roberts' episode which is expected to start filming next and is probably Episode 12.

Doctor Who often seems to have some coincidences with stuff that's out at the time. Take K-9 and R2-D2 for example, both were cute robot sidekicks at roughly the same time, although K-9 was first.

As much as I'd love that to be true, R2D2 was first. Star Wars was released on May 25th 1977. The Invisible Enemy, K9's first story, was first aired on October 1, 1977. Whether the popularity of R2D2 was behind the decision to create K9, I actually find that unlikely, and as we all know K9 was pretty popular in his own right at least for a while, and was actually on the show for three or four years, almost until the end of Baker's run.

K9 apparently only took about 3 weeks from the idea to having a fully functioning prop ready to go (though there were numerous problems with the prop as well).

The original prop (albeit heavily renovated) is the same K9 that is still used in "The Sarah Jane Adventures", more than 30 years later!
