Well, if we can have a Japanese man named "Sulu." ;)

Any suggestions for Gell Kamemor from Rough Beasts of Empire and Serpents Among the Ruins? I keep getting a Linda Hunt vibe from her (though she's never described as being that short). She has a somewhat reluctant Hetty-like authority about her; she doesn't want power, but one crosses her at one's peril.

Forgive me, as I'm out of the loop here.

I'm assuming this 'Tamala Harstad' talked about is being paired with Geordi LaForge in the novel 'Paths of Disharmony'? I couldn't find anything on the character on Memory Beta.

And, judging from the 'casting'...I'm assuming this Tamala Harstad is written as a 'black' woman?

Lastly, what happened with the Dina Elfiki character?

I mean: Didn't she and LaForge have 'something' going on?

Uhh, no. Geordi and Dina resolved very early on, in Greater Than the Sum, to be just friends and colleagues.

^I can definatly see these lot in their respective roles, although I'm still sticking to my guns with Charlene Choi as T'Ryssa Chen.

Currently reading "Rough Beasts of Empire", and was wondering if there were any ideas concerning the re-casting of Tomolak, since Andreas Katsulas, who originally played the character (as well as G'Kar in Babylon 5) died in early 2006.

Why would we need to recast him? We can cast whomever we want in our minds, regardless of whether they're alive or dead.

Exactly. That's why Baron Harkonen in Dune is still Orson Wells in my head.

I think we should have Kathy Bates be the president.

If we're going to see the Federation President in the next Trek film and it's a new character, I'd prefer to see Martin Sheen.

Yes, I know, it's typecasting. Sue me.

If we see Kenneth Wescott of Errand of Fury fame, I've thought ever since I read Seeds of Rage that Bruce Greenwood should play him using the same accent he used as John F. Kennedy in Thirteen Days -- years before ST09 ever entered production!

(Also, I really hope we actually see someone wearing a suit and tie, not some faux futuristic B.S.)

Isn't Wescott supposed to be a younger man, like in his mid to late thirties? And that's in TOS. Whatever he's doing in ST XII, he'd be in his late twenties at most.

If they use somebody like Hiram Roth, who judging from his appearance in 2286-era ST IV would probably be about 40 in ST XII, I humbly volunteer to play the part myself. :alienblush: :D

I seem to recall him being in his 40s, actually -- he struck me as being influenced by JFK.

^ Just checked Memory Beta. It says that Wescott was born in 2221, so he would be about 38 by the time ST XII rolls around. (I know it hasn't been confirmed that XII will pick up where XI left off but I'm just guessing it will.)

While reading Blind Man's Bluff this week I was picturing Jane Lynch as Kat Muller, though not in full Sue Sylvester mode, and she would need a German accent, but I think it might work.

^ Was it ever established that Kat has a German accent?

^ How about Sam Phillips? (The singer)

Any question about this: Watch her performance in Die Hard With A Vengeance. I actually have no idea what she sounds like since she never says a word the entire film....
