Doctor Who series 6 on set photos(spoilers)

interesting that Amy's rocking the tricorn hat and not the Doctor...
tricorn hats...aren't cool? :p

It would be funny if the doctor was the complete opposite of loving the hat

Doctor- Right, first thing we've got to do is get rid of that boat on your head.

Amy- This thing? Pirate hats are cool.

The Doctor takes it off Amy's head. He throws it in the water.

Amy- No Fez for you next Christmas.

When is season 6 supposed to start airing?

April Easter time as has been in the past few years.

Wasn't the Eleventh Doctor's costume originally going to be based on Jack Sparrow?

I wonder if this episode will suffer comparisons to the POTC films, especially since the fourth one is coming out roughly the same time.

Then again, this isn't the first time Doctor Who has done pirates....There's the old 60s serial known as The Smugglers and of course the Pirate Planet used some of the tropes of the genre.

Oh, Pirates! They filmed that down by us. :techman: Walked into the newsagents a couple of weeks ago and there was the Doctor splashed across the Western Morning News. Made me do a bit of a double take.

Are these photos from the second half of season 6?

If so, I guess this puts to rest rumors of Amy dying at the end of the first half.

Isn't episode 3 supposed to be the Neil Gaiman episode? And isn't that supposed to be about those creepy life-sized dolls?

Or does it include both the dolls and pirates?

Originally Episode Three was Neil Gaiman's episode that takes place on a Junkyard world and features Surrane Jones as Idris who according to Gaiman "may be an old friend of the Doctor's with a new face". That episode has been moved to Episode Four.

The Episode that was Fourth was the episode written by Mark Gatiss and included the creepy dolls. That has been moved to Episode Nine.

The Episode that is now airing as Episode Three features pirates being menaced by a siren played by Lily Cole.

I'd heard the Dolls ep had been moved in part because the first half of series 5 (or is it just series 5?) was quite dark.

Lily Cole and Amy Pond? I'm gonna be in red head heaven!

That's what Moffat said in Doctor Who Magazine. Of course, a more cynical person might think that they might have moved the pirate episode to take advantage of the pre-release buzz surrounding the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. But they wouldn't do that... would they? :)

Doctor Who often seems to have some coincidences with stuff that's out at the time. Take K-9 and R2-D2 for example, both were cute robot sidekicks at roughly the same time, although K-9 was first.

I wonder if the Utah story, which apparentally takes place around area 51, will be anything like Transformers III, which has a similar concept.

If you mean s#!t and full of explosions then probably not. :)

From the trailer, it seems as if the doctor was chained up in area 51 for a long time. Enough time to grow a long black beard.

Pirates! The Doctor could easily give Captain Jack Sparrow a run for the best pirate ever ... well maybe it would be Amy.
