We have at least one full team for sunday. If you wanted to sign up and haven't so far please do so anyway. We can always send in a B Team and even race them both against each other.

Anyone having a problem with Static?

I go rendezvous with reinforcements and i fight the war bird for like 30 min and nothing happens.

You HAVE to shoot the Fighters and the Plasma torps. Once you've cleared those, THEN if you shoot at the Warbird; it'll blow up good. :)

Huh. You're right. I swear I had never seen it there before.

They couldn't put it in until their contract with Gamestop was up. Dan's reviewing their other contracts now to make sure every preorder perk is either still available from the store, or on its way to the C-Store.

Sweet, I've been hoping to get some of those.

Hey, would this also include the 500 skill points Wallmart had for their preorder?

Quote from the Ask Cryptic:

"Perhaps the Romulan Empire will split into multiple factions where one will join the Federation and the other the Klingon Empire... That's an interesting idea."

This is more of a concern for me than even the idea that they're considering restricting ship class by profession.

Please tell me they're not going to 'Kill off' the Romulan Star Empire. I'm over reacting right?

It seems what they are considering (which I personally like), is that, if you make a Romulan, you have 3 choices:

1) A Romulan who wants to see the RSE fully restored (ie desn't ally with eithe Fed or KDF faction.)

2) A Romulan who sides with the Feds (and can play specific Romulan content as well as a lot of the existing Fed-specific content.)

3) A Romulan who sides with the KDF (and can play specific Romulan content as well as the existing KDF-specific content.)

Personally, if they did something like this, I think it would work very well, give players a lot more options and fit ion with the Romulan storyline that was introduced as a resul of th Star Trek 2009 film. Personally I do hope they do something like the above with regard to the Romulan faction when it's ultimately introduced (probably still a year or more out though).

Did we get anyone for the Saturday run of Infected yet? Willing to help out if we got enough to bother with it, but don't want to hang around if there's no interest, or it's just people all ready to help, but no one that needs it...

Not yet... we ask in game again shortly before the scheduled mission. if not enough people need it we just turn the event into a feature episode run. ;)

I think that would be tricky to pull off. Every player would want a Fed romulan because that would give them more content. Eventually they'll want a Klingon sided Romulan for their content. By the time they get round to the proper Romulan stuff, it'll be a long long wait. Just focus on making the Romulans strong again, I say.

Anyway, if they mess it up. If I don't get to play as a Romulan of a respectably powerful RSE, then I'll just stop playing. No harm done really, it's just a story that they got a bit wrong. I don't see it as canon in any case.

Ok, guess we'll see. Just trying to be helpful and earn my Fleet stripes. :) Besides, you guys helped me through the first one, figured I could help others. That, and wanted to see if I could snag the borg gun during the Infected run to see if it gave us a little more firepower for the Cure run Sunday...

Even went out and bought the new TrekBBS uniform for my character in preparation for the STFs this weekend. :bolian:

Keep in mind that the entire reason for Dan to speak about his ideas on the forums this far out is so that we can tell him what we think about them. Cryptic's committed to make this the game the customers want it to be. So go tell him what kind of Romulan faction you want.

Hi syberghost. I've replied to the thread on the STO forums. I think I was a little bit too emotional though, I hope I wasn't rude. I just see this idea as being a bit of a cop-out. It makes it much easier to implement the Romulan faction, but at the expense of changing them for good. I just fear they'll be diminished as a galactic power even more so if this goes ahead.

I've calmed down a bit now. Thinking about it, maybe this could work in some way, but only if the player's character were working for the Tal-Shiar or just a smaller Rom intelligence agency. They could be 'infiltrating' either starfleet or the KDF and performing missions with them.

It seems like making the Romulans strong again is only really important to myself and a very small group of others. Our voices might not be loud enough if every Fed and KDF player wants to play as a Romulan too, which I admit might be fun. I fear, though, that it will be at the expense of a strong playable Romulan faction. The one thing that I'm looking forward to most in this game and now it's been put in doubt. :(

If more players want a playable Romulan for doing either Fed or KDF missions, then it's a no-brainer for the devs to do that. It certainly looks that way from what I've read and the replies to my posts on this subject.

I just have to accept it. I think it's a mistake, but it's only my opinion and I kinda feel a bit alone with it right now.

It just makes me feel really sad that I'm only in this situation with my favourite race on the brink of colapse, because JJ Abrams likes to blow things up in his movies.

It might make you feel better to know that Dan came back and said he just throws these ideas out as an informal poll. If it's not popular it's not going to happen.

Thanks syberghost. Yeah, that makes me feel better. I'm probably over reacting, but it's only 'cos I really care about what they do with the Romulans. I'll just need to have faith and wait see what they come up with.

My mission will be to continue the campaign for a strong Romulan playable faction.

What I don't get is, how some players seem to think it's somehow bad to play characters on multiple factions. If they like KDF they kinda look down on Starfleet und vice versa while playing the game until the Romulans join the table makes no sense at all.
I also don't get how the notion the RSE needs to split up in 2 or 3 factions is necessary for making a playable Romulan on FED or KDF side. We have playable Klingons on Fed and playable Trill on KDF side right now as well.
I would welcome a playable Romulan in Starfleet or KDF, he would just not be RSE anymore.
Iwould also like if an established toon could have one or two opportunities in the game to switch allegiances during or after special "crossroad" missions.
Until then, If you want to enjoy content from different factions just make multiple toons. There is nothing dishonorable about it.
