Never watched star trek till two weeks ago..

You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a Star Trek fan who doesn't also like Star Wars.

I never liked Star Wars and it has nothing to do with being a Star Trek fan.

Let me put it another way. If I walked into a Star Trek convention and went around asking everyone I met what planet the second Death Star is orbiting, how many people do you think I'd have to ask before I got to one who said: "I don't know, I don't really like Star Wars."?

The 'Star Wars v. Star Trek' arguments were started by people who liked them both, but to different degrees.

You appear to be a little confused: you're allowed to like both Trek and Wars but you're not allowed to like both DS9 and Voyager. There was a big civil war in the Trek fandom back in the 90s while both shows were on the air and there's a very tense ceasefire in place for the last decade. TNG fans act like peacekeepers and try to stop both sides from developing nuclear weapons.

I love DS9 and I love VOY.

And I don't love TNG, it's my least favorite of all the series.

Anyway all the VOY haters pretty much dropped that kick once ENT came around, fresh new Trek for the haters to hate on..

I love ENT too.

thanks fot the episodes to look for! Why would I like season 4? More about the blood oath? Jemhadar is the end of season 2 isn't it? I will trust you and look forward to seeing that one. I just saw the one with parrel universe and the evil Kera.
NOT AS GOOD AS as blood oath but a fun episode.

If you're a fan of the Klingon warrior culture, season four makes use of that quite heavily. :)

And, yes, The Jem'Hadar is the season two finale, and an important story in setting up the overarching plot for the rest of the series.

All Star Wars fans are sick, including myself. I mean, Luke kissing his sister? Urgh! :ack: If they were twin sisters making out a little it would have been cool, but brother and sister? What sort of sicko considers that to be entertainment?

Now there's one sick individual.

There's too much confusion.
You think that's confusing? Imagine making love to someone knowing that they're really thinking about Han Solo, while also craning your neck in order to see the Luke/Vader lightsabre fight. It's simultaneously awesome, disheartening, uncomfortable and awesome again.

There's a lot more about the Klingons from season 4 on, including the introduction of some recurring Klingon characters. You may just see Kor again.

And if you like warrior races, a new warrior race will be introduced soon that have a different take on the concept from the Klingons. So there's that to look forward to too.

Look into those depraved eyes. You can tell that he had a tingling sensation down there while he watched Leia kiss Luke, because only he knew the truth. Sick bastard.

Those are the four steps to acceptance, aren't they?

Just so you know the Mirror Universe first appeared in Trek in The Original Series. It's the same alternate universe. There are 5 MU eps in DS9, 1 in TOS and 2 in ENT.

(IMO the TOS one is the best)

You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a Star Trek fan who doesn't also like Star Wars.
are you trolling?

star wars and star trek are completely different shows.

star wars is fantasy. star trek is almost pure science fiction.

i don't know anybody who are big followers of both.

Back on topic, I like Star Wars, I love TOS, TNG and DS9, and I like VOY. If that makes me sound like I live on granola and wear flowers in my hair, so be it. Peace, man.
Let's all light up and look at the Star Trek.

 (Really.)

So you didn't read any of the rest of the thread, then? Because many (and probably most, but I haven't counted) of the posters have said that they like both franchises, to at least some degree. I'm one, for example. I prefer Trek, but Star Wars is a lot of fun, and why shouldn't I be able to like both? Big Bang Theory is very different from Criminal Minds but I like both shows, and The Wizard of Oz is very different from Henry V but I love both movies.

Why is it impossible to be a fan of sci-fi and fantasy at the same time? Most fans of one are also fans of the other. I'm as big a fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels as I am a fan of Star Trek.

The first time I ever saw Star Wars was with a Star Trek fan club; it was at the time of the 20th anniversary re-release and everyone there was excited about the prospect of seeing Star Wars on the big screen.

And to be honest, Star Trek can be just as much a fantasy universe as Star Wars at times, it just hides it behind technobabble. Without spoiling anything for the OP, the final few seasons of DS9 had some elements ripped almost entirely from fantasy.

Nope, I'm dead serious.

Star Trek is a massive science fiction franchise that crosses over all forms of media over multiple decades.

Star Wars is a massive science fiction franchise that crosses over all forms of media over multiple decades.

Just because you don't know anyone who doesn't like both does not change the fact that if you polled all Star Trek fans, the majority of them would say they liked the original three Star Wars movies. Hell, if you polled most men born in the 70s or 80s the majority would say they liked Star Wars, irrespective of their feelings for Star Trek. You can like two different things at the same time, isn't that axiomatic? Obviously Star Trek is better than Star Wars, but that's just my opinion, but liking Star Trek MORE (because it's 1000x better) doesn't mean I can't also like Star Wars- because I do! And so do most Trekkies.

Ignoring for the moment how Star Trek itself delves into creatures bordering gods and other fantastical elements, I also like both franchises, and so do several others as stated in this very thread, as has been pointed out.
