The story is actually quite clear. Bane will trip Batman, who will fall over his cape, and then... just when you thought all hope was lost, when evil had won... Batman... will... rise.

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

I believe the point of that argument actually was about dreaming bigger. One very annoying thing about superhero stories is the tired "villain obsessed with hero" cliche. The original point was that Batman was somewhat incidental to certainly Ra's plans, and Joker was also out to create city-wide chaos - they were after destroying Gotham, which brought them into conflict with Batman. (Though I suppose it's arguable that Joker was after destroying Gotham for the express purpose of being in conflict with Batman.)

So the idea that Bane will likewise be after the destruction of the city is certainly feasible, and is, in fact, bigger than him just being interested in destroying Batman.

Given the "Hardy is not the main villain" rumors and the possibility of second female lead - I still think of Talia, seeking to complete her father's work (most likely at his behest since I'm pretty convinced Ra's is not dead in the Nolan-verse), using Bane. It might be somewhat more personal at this point - Ra's and Talia both (or just her on the off chance that Nolan skips the cardinal comic rule, no body, no death) out for Bruce's blood and his beloved city for the humiliation he visited upon Ra's and the thwarting of the original League of Shadows goal of carrying out their centuries-long mission of bringing balance back to society. This gives us a villain still seeking to wipe out Gotham (perhaps some version of the Legacy storyline which includes Ra's, Talia, Bane and Henri Ducard) but with a very intimate conflict at its center.

Catwoman seems somewhat superfluous to this set up, but if they do a Bruce Wayne/ Selina Kyle romance, she could have more relevance.

Pure speculation of course, but I have long suspected Nolan would spring a surprise reveal of the seemingly immortal Ra's return. Should please the long-time Ra's fans, since it would cement him as the Batman's ultimate nemesis in the Nolan-verse.

    Well, then, I'll rephrase.

It would be pretty clear to anyone with a clear knowledge or recollection of the comics?

    Better? :p

io9 has a piece about Bane's history in the comics, and it suggests there's a lot more substance to the character than just a big thug in a luchador mask:

    http://io9.com/5738053/why-is-this-guy-youve-never-heard-of-christopher-nolans-latest-batman-villain

The thing that strikes me is that, for a time, Bane was Ra's al-Ghul's chosen successor (a role formerly offered to Batman). Perhaps that's the role in which Nolan plans to use him, thus tying the third film into the first.

This should probably be posted 2-3 other places I post.
Seems too many ONLY recall his use of the venom drug and haven't followed his character development since. Then there are those whose only exposure is a few cartoons and his horrid portrayal in Batman&Robin. Thusly thinking he is ONLY a thug villain and they shout out in horror over his inclusion.

Now there's a rather personal connection to Bruce Wayne in that article:

I think that would be kinda interesting. Not the sidekick part, but the "one brother good, one brother bad" dynamic. Together with the connection to Ra's, you have Bane fighting crime in Gotham with very, very, very brutal methods, and Bruce fighting crime always trying to stay on the good side.

@Christopher...yeah I already touched on Bane's short role as Ra's successor and a possible suitor for Talia a couple of pages ago. I believe this was from a Legends of the Dark Knight issue that featured their rematch of which Bruce won...much to Talia's delight. Ra's even revealed that Bane was simply a test, one in which the Detective passed to his satisfaction and he berates the brute after the loss. I think Talia even says "I was never in love with you" in the issue too just to put more salt on his wounds. It was an interesting issue. The point is that Nolan obviously is interested in Bane on multiple levels and thinks he can make him work in his movie. If one is able to get passed the obvious surface stuff of Bane, one can see the possibilities.

So that's... Ms. Hathaway's face stuck onto an Adam Hughes Catwoman portrait? It's hardly an accurate representation of Ms. Hathaway's proportions, judging from her photos on IMDb. (And thank goodness. Catwoman shouldn't be busty. Catburglars are supposed to be able to sneak through narrow places. They should be lithe, compact, and flexible, built like a gymnast or dancer. And yes, I'm looking at you too, Black Cat.)

I was wondering when someone would photoshop Anne's face to that Catwoman mug shot. And notice the numbers in the pic. ;)

She's about as busty as the real Winona.

Maybe Selina Kyle will turn out to be Talia. :p

Have you seen Hathaway's topless scene in "Brokeback Mountain"? She's actually quite busty.

^She's had a number of naked scenes...the most recent in "Love and Other Drugs" and yes she's busty but not quite as busty as the aforementioned pic.
