The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

I have a feeling Bruce will momentarily cease being Batman, either after being hounded by police and deciding to momentarily quit or after a serious confrontation with Bane. Something along those lines. Either way, now that he's wanted by the police, I don't think he's going to be THAT effective, and I think that means we're going to see more copycats and more vigilantes in the way of Catwoman to fill that void.
You're forgetting one thing, Rachel Dawes.
Her words in "Begins": "Evil thrives when the good people of Gotham do nothing." is what started him on his quest to being Batman. Now that she's dead, her words will ring in his ears and that won't allow him to stop being Batman.

I also don't think the title will be based on one specific moment but rather over all theme.
Nolan isn't so cliche.

Well, think of Bane, and Knightfall.
Why?
Nolan isn't following anything based directly or indirectly of any comic book story plot.

How do you know? Batman Begins was partially inspired by many comic-books including The Man Who Falls, Batman: Year One and so forth. The Dark Knight was also very much inspired by The Long Halloween. Nolan usually takes inspiration from certain comic-books when he delves into the individualistic stories for these films.

The same way you do, speculation.
I think you have to take elements from the comic to stay true to certain aspects of Batman and characters in that universe but the bulk of the movies are his own. I find Nolan's Batman series more inspired by "The Untouchables" than the comics.

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman?

Bring. It. On.

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

^ Well, I think it would be pretty clear to anyone who has read the comic books, regardless of whether or not they read Nolan's remarks.

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

Can we just make this thread the official thread and rename the thread: The Dark Knight Rises (casting, pictures, blah blah blah until release)? Or start a new thread altogether?

I have.
It wasn't, so I asked.

Not everyone remembers details of comics they read over 15 years ago.;)

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

^ I've re-read many times the graphic novels that influenced Nolan and Goyer. Just finished reading both "The Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory". The latter will probably affect some of the Catwoman stuff to a degree.

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

Here's the trailer Tom Hardy's movie, Bronson... The character he plays looks to be very similar to Bane and even has a bit of that craziness you'd expect from a Batman villain.

No offence to you or anyone that does, I just don't have the time nor do I have any idea where my comics are. I just simply grew out of reading them and packed them away yeeeeeeeears ago.

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

Fair enough. I think the point is that though that Nolan and company have and are using source material but are using it to create their own take on things. Even before "Batman Begins" came out DC Comics released a whole bunch of graphic novels, and one-shots that had to do with Ra's, Scarecrow, and Henri Ducard. Interviews knew enough to ask Nolan directly what influenced him. Same with "The Dark Knight" the books that JA mentioned.

Much appreciated. :)

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

Eh, Drug pusher doesn't interest me so much. Mad man with an obsession for hunting down, discovering and finally replacing Batman is more my cup. Batman needs a threat. A character of equel strenght of mind and body will be different to past villains.
A villian of no real purpose isn't Nolan's style.
He doesn't do dumb plots that don't develope into the over all bigger picture. Ra's, Scarecrow & Joker were all bigger threats to Gotham before they were threats to Batman.
Nolan's Batman is about Batman's connection to protecting his parents dream, Gotham City. Too get to Batman, you have to go attack Gotham. Bane will be something more than an obsessed lunatic wanting to replace Batman.
But what kind of purpose does a drug king serve? We've already dealt with mobs in 2 movies. The Joker and Ras had greater ideals than drugs or money. Bane has to be above that or else it's dealing with the usual scum bags of the city. You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling.

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

Actually Ra's entire plan had to deal with a drug if one remembers the toxin :)

Re: Third Nolan Batman film title announced!

We don't know whether Nolan will be following the premise of Knightfall, but it's interesting that this story is called The Dark Knight Rises, in contrast to that title, especially with Bane in the mix.

Though the Dark Knight isn't Bruce Wayne, it's a symbol. ;)
