			That's  especially odd given that the movie would have worked just as well if  Sam had been female and Flynn's protege male; it would have made  literally no difference to the story but slight dialogue  changes.
		
		
	 
Even if that were true (hint: it isn't), selling  female-centric sci-fi/fantasy to Yanks is damned risky business - just  ask the producers of

(Setting aside box office concerns. Btw, the problem doesn't seem to be female leads - 
Tomb Raider earned $184 million, 
Aliens $165 million, and 
Alien $250 million, adjusted, all of which are above 
Tron: Legacy's current gross - but the quality of action films with female leads.  
Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, which was much less well-reviewed than the original 
Tomb Raider, earned only $87 million adjusted, despite.)
