Apologies for resurrecting a long dead thread, but thought I may as well as start a new one.
I've been in hospital for a couple of days again. Monday afternoon I had a big nose bleed, it lasted well over an hour and half and I lost quite a bit of blood, probably somewhere around a pint. Then it stopped and everything was fine for a couple of hours. Then around 7 it started to bleed again, and after about 40 minutes and a few hundred ml more of blood loss it was decided I should go to the hospital.
After being triaged and seeing the doctor in A&E they decided to call in ENT to take a look. After examining me the ENT doctor said I wasn't bleeding from the soft area of the nose at the front, it was further back where it would be hard to cauterise, and they would like to admit me in case there should be further bleeding, which there was, another 40 minutes or so.
It stopped and hasn't bled since but they kept me in for observation and did some blood tests and found that although my blood is still very thick some clotting factor was way off and is usually associated with having thin blood. So it was decided to call haematology, they've ordered some more blood tests, but for now I've been allowed home since there's been no more bleeding and I feel fine, but I should be contacted later today with the results and news on whether I will need more tests or outpatient appointments.
So Happy New Year, eh?
