It will be visible after midnight EST. It's the first soltice total eclipse since 1638 and only the second since the beginning of the Common Era.
I wish I can see it but it's been cloudy and gray for the last 2 weeks. I doubt that is going to change tonight.
I'll be crossing my fingers because I live in upstate New York's snow belt. I think we've had one day in the last 10 when it hasn't snowed. I can hardly wait for Lake Ontario to freeze over.
I wish I were able to see it, but we seem to be as cloudy in the middle of the country as you guys on the coasts are.
yeah the view is nearly perfect here from nyc, I read that the very best moments of this eclipse will be starting at 317am est. couple of clouds floating by but they are not yet hampering my veiwing
Hehe, I tried to take a picture and my crappy camera was like 'what moon? there is no moon!' Here in VA there are some very thin clouds that are obscuring most of the stars, but I can make out where the moon is supposed to be.
I took this picture about 30 minutes ago. A couple days out the year, I wish I had a telescope. Alas, just a 200mm zoom lens.
I can see it very clearly here. I am in Central Northern Ontario (Canada). Not a cloud in site and meteor shower is pretty cool too. Unfortunately, my camera don't work very good for taking pics of the moon. Also, the eclipsed moon was a orangy colour too. Weird! Happy Winter Solstice everybody.
yeah I wish I had been in a darker area to better see it fully but it was nice and a bit eerie at the same time, now for some hot chocolate to warm me up, neighbor had her stupid motion light on so instead of enjoying it from my yard i walked down to the park which was darker than my street, however it was also windy and a bit chilly, but that is what they make brandy for isn't it lol( and before everyone jumps on that yes I have seen that mythbusters episode disproving that )
