What episode feels most like TOS, and vice versa?

Lots of comparisons were made between the shows early on, stories, planet sets, etc...what felt most like and old episode to you, and what TOS episode feels like the STNg series?

I'd say Hide and Q, Code of Honor felt the most like TOS...Code for the "straw culture" and Hide and Q for the cheapness of the production.

The Chase is kind of interchangeable for both series...as idealistic as TOS' extreme but also looked a bit like TOS towards the end. It validated the "parallel law" of evolution from both series.

I always thought TOS' "Journey to Babel" and "The Enterprise Incident" very much felt like they could have been "modern" Star Trek episodes. "Journey to Babel" because of the time it spends on the universe building aspect of the fictional universe and "The Enterprise Incident" because it is paced so fast it almost feels like a show from twenty years in the future.

Ditto on "Hide and Q" - the "planet Hell" set, weird colored sky, and also because of Q, which is a character that is strongly descended from Trelane and other God-like antagonists of TOS.

I think the 3rd season's Allegiance where Picard is abducted and put in a room with some other aliens and an alien pretends to be him on the Enterprise feels TOS-like to me.

TNG's "Too Short A Season" almost seems like a held over script from the TOS era

The TOS "Court Martial" episode strikes me as what later Trek would be like, like TNG's "A Matter Of Perspective", for example

I've heard stories that the episode was originally pitched as Kirk returning to the planet Neural from A Private Little War.

I just watched Ensigns of Command and it felt a lot like a TOS episode. It was kind of slow, some questionable acting (;)), and some humorous moments.

Really? I felt the episode was ripped right out of the headlines of terrorism/Beirut/Middle East from the late 80s....except for the aging of course.

It also took a 180 on TOS's correctable view of cultures (of course these were allegories, but it causes a problem after awhile milieu-wise)...that violation of the Prime Directive such as Kirk's in the Apple, or A Private Little War often has dire consequences. I find this a much more mature view than TOS. I really enjoyed the episode.
