Liaisons is kind of underrated...

Okay, the main story with Picard is average, but I love the stuff with Worf. It's really funny seeing him try and not lose his temper with the ambassador he's assigned to. The way he carves into that ham like it's the guy's head is hysterical. It looks like he wants to just murder the guy. And even Troi's bit with her ambassador is good. He gets her to the point of turning her off to chocolate. I love Worf's reaction to that "You see? You see? They are insane!"

Eh, it seemed really average to me, and the Picard plot in particular really weighed down the rest of the episode.

There was nothing wrong with the Picard plot until the end of the episode, when in response to being imprisoned, tortured, and nearly molested, he says that to some people, these things would be considered criminal.
I know he's a diplomat, but that moment was so out of character it was ridiculous.

There are a lot of episodes in Season 7 that aren't bad persay, but not really memorable. Liaisons is one of them, but also Interface and Inharitance to name a few go into this same category. They're also episodes I haven't seen in a really long time and as for Liaisons, the only thing I remember is the chick shouting "love me" at Picard for some reason. The stuff with the Ambassadors on the ship was fun too, but still not one of those episodes I would rewatch regularly.

No argument regarding Interface, but I rather liked Inheritance. Plus I believe that was the first time I ever saw Fionnula Flanagan (hoping I got the spelling right). I've since seen her in Enterprise and Lost, and she's never disappointed.

I LOVE the stuff with Worf and the ambassador. If my DVR catches this one, I FF through the Picard stuff and savor what's happening on board the Enterprise.

One of my favorite things is Worf struggling with not smacking people senseless. He fights the good fight in this one, but finally gives in.

I remember Fionnula Flanagan from the "How the West Was Won" television show with Bruce Boxleitner and James Arness, and the first Ewok movie.

I had to look up Liaisons to remind me of the plot. It's an OK ep, but as others have said, the comic relief elements are far more entertaining than the dramatic storyline, which rather weakens the balance of the episode.

I liked her performance in that episode too. Sold it very nicely.

Agreed. That really ruined it for me. Those aliens should have been brought up on charges. Kidnapping the CO of the flagship is apparently no big deal.

What the episode really needed was the senior staff laughing about it on the bridge as the Enterprise warps off to another big adventure!

I'm gonna have to disagree.
Liaison kind of sucked, like a lot of the 7th season.

At the time (original airing) it seemed like a ripoff of "Misery", what with the woman trapping an incapacitated Picard, demanding that he love her.

And the idea of the alien ambassadors wanting to study human emotions or reactions is pretty much shot when two of the three chosen aren't quite human anyway (Worf and Troi).

But I do love Worf's bit about ripping out the guy's esophagus. Love it. But alas, one killer line isn't enough to save the eps for me.

They should have combined this episode with "Lessons" and "The Perfect Mate" and had Picard fall in love with a woman who turns out to be an alien ambassador who's just there to learn about his emotions before she takes off.

Or something. Eh, I really don't care. :)

Oh wow, I completely forgot that she was the mom in the first Ewok movie. Cool! I love her in everything she does.

"Liaisons" was ... weird.
