Actor spotting

Yeah, he's a character actor that really gets around. He was a love interest of Daphne on "Frasier" for a number of episodes. He also had a string of appearances on the series "Blind Justice". He was on a two-part episode of Stargate SG-1, too. I haven't seen Warehouse 13... is his performance very similar to what he has done elsehwere? Although I like his characterizations, the ones I've seen seemed all fairly similar to each other; same intonations and mannerisms.

I'm not sure what to say. Yes, he does have the same intonations, but on Warehouse 13 he's definitely a good guy, while he's most definitely not a good guy on TNG and he's not very sympathetic on Frasier, either. And he does a fine job as good guy, too. (Oh, and thanks for that spotting - I'd forgotten all about that role.) You might want to try Warehouse 13 for yourself, if you have access to ScyFy - I love that show. Not so much for Saul (he's fine, but I wouldn't consider him my favorite character by any means) but because it's just a whole woppin' wad of fun.

He was very good AND sympathetic when he was on Outer Limits. Linky

Last night I saw Terry Farrel in an episode of Quantum Leap called "A Leap for Lisa". And there was a character named Commander Riker! They had a regular Star Trek reunion there.

It was actually quite a funny situation because Sam was being accused of killing Riker's wife. And when one of the other characters said to him something like "Did you kill Commander Riker's wife?", I had this strange flash of the same thing happening in our very own Enterprise. It was like Archer leaping in time to kill Troi for messing up his finale.

I was watching Quantum Leap last night and I saw the actor who played Admiral Paris on VOY, Richard Herd. He was in an episode called "Future Boy".

Funny, as there's another episode of Quantum Leap with Robert Duncan McNeill as a guest star.

I know there's an episode of TJ Hooker which has Shatner, James Darren, Marc Alaimo and Bob O'Reilly in it.

Nearly didn't spot Bob, but those mad eyes of his gave him away.

Oh, right! I forget the name of the episode, though.

It was an episode called "Good Night, Dear Heart." It was basically a murder mystery episode, and I think McNeill's character was suspected by Sam.

RDM was also in an episode of the 80's Twilight Zone. He played a teenager in the present day who is telepathically linked with a girl in the 1700's. Very good episode. "A Message From Charity", it's called. Also has James Cromwell as the girl's father back in 1700.

Oh, another Trek-Warehouse 13 link: I spotted René Auberjonois there as well. Not that he was that hard to spot, but still...;)

He played a role...well, it's really complicated because it was sort of three roles in one and I just don't even want to go into it, but the episode was called (I think) "13.1." It was a hoot.

Also Faran Tahir, better known (at least to many of us) as Captain Robau, has shown up in a couple of Warehouse 13 episodes. Now that was actually a little hard to spot, just because a man looks a lot different in a custom-tailored suit than he does in a Star Fleet uniform. And he was really fun to watch, too.

A surprising number of Star Trek actors appeared on Hawaii Five-O: William Shatner, Mark Lenard, Barbara Luna, Lawrence Montaigne, James Darren, Diana Muldaur, George Takei, France Nuyen, Sabrina Scharf, Robert Foxworth, etc. (There were many others.)

It's fun noticing them while watching the series from start to finish (so far, I've made it to season 4); William Shatner and Mark Lenard had particularly good roles.

Thanks, JustKate. I don't have access to SyFy, but I'll try to see if I can catch episodes on-line. I know a lot of the cable stations don't do that--usually just network stations.

Holy cow, what a bizarro experience! Kind of a freaky foreshadowing... Bakula being associated with the name Riker all the way back in Quantum Leap. Where'd "Commander" come into play? Was the character Riker a naval officer?

Great spotting, everybody - just great. I am impressed.

I just spotted a new one tonight - I loathe Steven Seagal, but I happened walk in while my husband was watching a few minutes of Under Siege and there, as a bad guy, was...Colm Meaney. About 30 seconds after I walked in the room, he met the fate of all the bad guys in Steven Seagal movies (died in a spray of bullets), so I can't tell you any more about it other than that he was a bad guy, and he looked pretty darn cool as a bad guy.

I spotted Malcolm McDowall in 'The Book of Eli' as a humble old man....and not as a hammy, cliched villain! *gasp*

Check out "To Kill a Mockingbird". It has the "bonk! bonk!" kid from TOS's "Miri", it has Sisko's dad/Admiral Cartwright, it has Mark Piper from TOS's "Where No Man...", and I think there are a couple more...it's been a while since I've seen it.

Yes, the Riker character was a naval officer. In this episode, Sam actually leaped into a younger Al as a Navy Ensign. Riker was Al/Sam's commanding officer, who accused Al/Sam of raping and murdering his wife. Al was also involved with a nurse called Lisa, played by Terry Farrel, who died in a car accident in the beginning of the episode. In the end, Sam manages to save both Al and Lisa.

AFAIK, Malcolm once said that he would have appeared on DS9 - but only in an ep that his nephew (Siddig) directed. Never did happen. :(

I'll keep an eye out for him in WH13 but haven't got to his episodes yet.

I did see him in Chuck the other day (Watching it on dvd) though:)

I've had two more Trek actor sightings over the weekend: LeVar Burton in Roots and Robert Picardo in one of the Stargate series. It was especially nice to see LeVar without the VISOR. He's got such pretty eyes! :techman:

Anyway, the bizarro Quantum Leap/Star Trek crossover thing is gaining strength. I was watching an episode called "Star Light, Star Bright", in which Sam leaps into an elderly gentleman who's been seeing UFOs and has a grandson who needs a little help. Sam gets excited about being offered the possibility to prove that UFOs are really alien spacecraft. In a conversation between him and Al, the latter tries to get him off that idea and tells him he should lay off the stuff about "little aliens and beam me up, Scotty" and concentrate on the fate of the old man's grandson. I have to say that took me by surprise. I was like, wait, wait, wait, what did he say? It was unbelievable! I said to myself, well, it's not beam me up, Scotty, it's beam me up, Trip.

Later, after Sam persuades the grandson not to run away from home and ruin his life, the grandson tells him, "You are the original space cadet!" I was again taken aback because that was actually a pretty accurate statement in another universe, only it's not space cadet, it's space captain. These are really extraordinary coincidences. :wtf:
