Fan Film Friday

Well, this makes two weeks in a row I haven't been able to cobble together Fan Film Friday, but I think you'll understand my reason when I state two words that have made things difficult: root canal.

Still, I think this is a good place to let you folks know, those who haven't heard, at least, that I'll begin putting in Spoiler Alerts starting next week. This approach seems to have the best of both worlds (sorry, I couldn't resist) so the people who don't want to read about the ending and those who want to read it can both enjoy reading the review.. I'll post the alert at what looks as a good spot in the plot description and recommend folks to jump down to my Clint Eastwood line unless they want the full treatment.

Let me know how (or if) it works!

One root canal later, Fan Film Friday is back with a look at a German Star Trek fan film (with English subtitles, thank goodness) called "Digital Ghost." This production dates back to 2000, and it's an excellent look at the struggle of "man versus machine" when a fully automated Enterprise is taken for a final test run and (you guessed it) things go terribly wrong.

Catch it here: http://scifipulse.net/?p=35647#more-35647

Your review may have overrun their server! I couldn't reach it when I was updating my own page on this film to include your review.

My webpage now includes your review, but doesn't include the picture it had, and I couldn't reach their server. http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/87.html

Hi, Barb. I don't have any problem downloading the file. Also, I used your file, and it seemed to get to the site AOK. Let me know if you're still having problems with the link.

By the way, I've been adding a Spoiler Alert in my columns for those who'd rather see the conclusion for themselves, while some who want to read the whole thing can still do so. While I consider it "the best of both worlds," I'm interested in any comments from folks who read the column. Let me know what you think.

This week's Fan Film Friday is the first of two parts, the first time I've done that in the year and a half I've done that, but Star Trek: Specter is good and long (in both meanings of the words), and I just didn't feel I could do the fan film justice in one segment so I'll complete the review next week.

Here's the link to the start of the review: http://scifipulse.net/?p=36477
