I think they meant ideological conflict, more of "let's get it done" vs "we have to follow the law to the letter" sort of thing. You know alot of people wanted Voyager to go down that path...they wanted more conflict between the Maquis and Star Fleet.
I really don't think VOY would have lasted more than a year if the crew all acted the way they do in SGU. I mean, the show even acknowledged this by having the ship run itself without anyone having to keep charge of the engines and life support and stuff. It's basically saying "Yes, we know that a crew like this could never survive if they actually had to do anything with the ship's running so we're having it be automated."
If the crew actually had to operate Destiny's systems, the way they all act, dead in no time.
I'm starting to like SGU for the first time. I hated the first ep of season2 I decided not to continue watching. But then I caught a bit of the next ep and it was quite an improvement. There has been far too much character driven shows- considering how totally void of character and dimension most of the crew are.
I have seen a bit more plot in the stories which I hope will increase. It may even save the show. I just wish they'd turn the lighting up so we can see the ship properly.
