Jake: Trek's Best Kid (interview w/Cirroc)

Nice hearing from Cirroc. Sounds like he's got a good thing going for him. It's always great when an actor pursues something else. I know that sounds strange, but I mean it -- it shows that they're more than capable of tackling other things, and in this cutthroat world of acting (believe me, I know, I'm studying for it) it's important to have backups.

I thought Cirroc did a great job as Jake. His growth as a character was very realistic, IMHO.

And I also found out that he is the nephew of Kenny Lofton. :techman:

I'm sure he's played a few innings w/his uncle, prolly that's the reason he looked better the others in Holosuite at the game.
I appreciate the writers for not making him a geeky, know-it-all kid and much more down to earth.

I agree that Jake was a very likable character and that Lofton played him well. It was easy to see the good chemistry between him and Brooks. After Wesley, who annoyed me from the first episode, it was a relief to see a child who was as likable and donw-to-earth as Jake.

Jake was very well concieved and used very sensibly as a character throughout the series. The fact that he appeared only in a third of the episodes is a testament to this. Instead of trying to artificially insert im into every plot they only included him when it contributed to the story.

I hated Jake and thought Cirroc was an awful actor.

I think you're a troll.

Huh?
I'm not trolling, I honestly think he performed poorly on DS9. He gave in the same performance in nearly every episode he was in. He was always hunched over laughing unconvincingly and being completely boring.
I accept you have a different opinion (of course I don't understand it at all), but calling someone a troll just for disagreeing with you is absurd and rude.

You're an Epic Fail

No, I simply have a different opinion.
I felt Jake was an annoying underacheiver being played by an actor with very little ability.

Having that opinion is fine. I respect diverse opinions. But this topic was not asking "Do you like Cirroc / Jake?" It was, rather, providing a link to an interview for the people who do enjoy his work to read and discuss. You had no reason to post in this thread. You could have ignored it. But you chose to post here for no other reason than to inform people of your opinion, which had little to do with the topic. Therefore you are a troll. And I am being an idiot for giving you this much attention.

Back on topic... it's nice to know that Cirroc Lofton is doing well. Just because we haven't seen him in the media doesn't mean he's dropped off the face of the earth.

you might want to read the headline again: Jake: Trek's Best Kid. doesn't sound like an invitation to discuss if he was the best to you? he was a waste of valuable ds9 time, if you ask me.

or maybe i misunderstood and the "best kid" did not refer to cirroc's poor performance and the boring character of jake, but it meant "the ideal kid". he responded to his father's love, and obeyed 100%, considering that dad was busy 24/7 as religious figurehead, commander of a station, and mastermind of the war effort quite an achievement, mom wasn't around after all. he didn't develope a drug habit, didn't join a klingon space gang stealing shuttles, but remained nice and polite. somewhat overidealized.

All of Kai Winn's above posts.
Your posts made my day :rommie:.
I think you might be over-analysing it, but alot of people (including me) feel that Jake was probably Treks best characterised kid, doesn't necessarily make him a good character but he was a more realistic kid than plot-solver Wesley.
If you felt there was a better kid on Trek, please tell us.

the voyager kids, in particular mezoti. had few appearances only, but i liked naomi and icheb too.
