Ratings for the Premier - Is this the end of SGU?

1.175 million viewers with a .5 in 18-49? Abysmal...

This is really low for a premier episode of a new season. Has SG-1 or SGA ever had a premier this low?

Is this the end for SGU? Will Season 2 be its final season?

IMO, Tuesday night is going to kill this series in the ratings department. If this is so, will they even order a 3rd season?

One thing is for sure, I hope they reveal the mission of the Destiny this season before the show gets canceled! I don't want to be left hanging!

If more final numbers come in, plus DVR viewings, please post here.

If you look at the spoilers for each episode, it looks like the mission will be revealed during episode 7, The Greater Good.

If this show gets really good like I think it might, I'm going to be very disappointed if it's canceled.

More than likely, they are hoping to somehow hold onto Warehouse 13's audience by rotating their other original productions through the same time slot. Yet another example of the stupidity common among television executives.

SyFy just put two in SGU's head. They just don't know they're dead yet. At least we'll always have wrestling. Damn, I love NetFlix.

It looks like a lot of people simply didn't know about the change in airdate. Fridays are something of a traditional airdate for sci-fi channel, isn't it?

Putting it up against new Fall shows on Tuesdays is just plain idiotic. Fridays is a much safer night to compete against. There's a lot of competition on the 5 networks' Tuesday line up for SGU to compete against.

If you think SG-U did badly, imagine how shitty Caprica is going to do were talking about below 1 million. Right SYFY needs to get their at together and attempt to save some of there credibility. After episode 2 move it back to fridays at 8pm followed by Caprica & Sanctuary (which has already been moved to friday nights anyway). SYFY wanted to get back some of the DVR well air it in the old SG-1 slot when it was 8/9/10 (SG-1/SGA/BSG).

At this rate the writers/producers know SGU will be cancelled after 2 seasons should it remain on tuesday nights and also no matter what night SGU will not match SG-A's 100 episodes/5 season run, we are talking a 4 year FARSCAPE run should it move back to fridays.

Simple fact SYFY ruined the SG/BSG franchise when they broke up the old friday night family and we are about to hit rock bottom with both spinoffs about to die a horrible horrible death.

There's already another, more action-oriented BSG spin-off in the works, so I wouldn't be surprised if SyFy were to bring Caprica to an early end, especially with ratings being pretty low. Perhaps they'll make a miniseries to bring some sort of closure to the final cliffhanger, since they have more of an investment in the franchise, which is a Universal property (rather than the MGM-owned Stargate franchise). A second and final season is improbable at this point, but a miniseries might be possible.

SyFy really needs to get something through development quick if they want to have a prestige show of some sort.

It's stupid. Do the people running the channel understand that they can't win against NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox?

As for DVR? It's hard enough as it is to use the DVR just between the four big networks putting all their shows on at the same times.

They should put it back on Friday and leave it there.

Well, if I was one for conspiracy theories, I'd point out that they're both rather low-rated and expensive, so maybe you're right. Maybe Syfy wants to give the appearance of supporting the shows while intending to kill them off and replace them with lower-budget programs that can survive on such poor ratings.

one day syfy will be nothing but rasslin' and poor reality show like Destination Truth and five or six spinoffs of Ghost Hunters.

The Ghosthunter spin off could be called something cool like Ghosthunter Evolution or Apocalypse. I wonder if Ghostfacers could survive as a series?

I suppose I'd better get around to watching the episode, then.

I wish I cared more.

Syfy is run by a bunch of morons, the move to Tuesday is SGU's death knell against the network programming. Fridays were great on Syfy, the shows didn't need to be that great, just enjoyable, and whatever was on network was second string programming so Syfy had a chance.

I feel bad for some of the actors like Robert Carlyle and Ming-Na, great actors who are better than this show right now, hate to see them be associated with this drowning ship, there was so much potential too.
