Hi, guys. I don't usually get around to Posting in this Forum, even though I'm a pretty big fan of the modern series (I was a moderate fan of the original run, primary the Peter Davison years). However, a (top secret) friend of mine who has an undisclosable connection with the show sent me some pics that are too good to keep to myself. These are pics of the antagonists for the Christmas Special. These are SPOILERS, so I'm going to link, not embed-- do not click if you don't want to be Spoiled!

    Link Two

    Link Three

As you can see, Doctor Who maintains its reputation as the show that makes you hide behind the couch. A bit more info:

These are not, I am told, puppets or props or CGI, but actors in costume!

Obviously, I can't disclose my source, so put away the bamboo shoots. Torture will not work on me. Many have tried and all have failed. ;)

However, it is possible that more info will come my way. If so, I promise to share with you. :)

    Enjoy and discuss!

Indeed. If those are real, they've just shot up there with the Smilers and the Weeping Angels in "creepy looking."

They sort of look like the robots from Girl in the Fireplace.

I thought that, creepier though (I never found the girl in the fireplace robots particularly threatening)

Sorry about that. The local Mods can certainly merge the Threads if they think it's best.

Are you sure these are for the Christmas Special because they seem very similar to the descriptions I've heard for the antagonists in episode four which apparently features a giant Doll's house.

I think you're right, Pseudo. I'm pretty sure these pics are from the episode you've described. Off to edit thread title......

I've actually heard it's more likely that we'll see
The Great intelligence and the Yeti last seen during the Troughton era, unless you count the "Five Doctors" and the "Downtime" DTV video. Concept art has leaked of an outline of a Yeti with a robotic skeleton.

The last thing that I heard was that the concept art was for a book, although that might just be a bit of deflection by McKinstry.

Having said that, when concept art from The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang appeared on his site before those episodes had aired they were swiftly removed once they became public knowledge so I'm guessing that McKinstry's telling the truth.

    Either that or it's a double-bluff! :D

Pseudo, you are quite correct. Apparently, my pal assumed they were from Christmas because they look kind of Christmasy, but they are indeed from Episode 4, which I'm also told is written by Neil Gamin.

Kind of nice to know that they're up to Episode 4 already; kind of makes the new Season seem not so far away.

Thanks for confirming that. While I can't be 100% sure of this because Gaiman's episode is being directed by Richard Clark who is also directing an episode by Mark Gatiss as best as I've been able to make out they filmed Gatiss' episode first and that featured the Doll's house. They've now moved on to Gaiman's. This is basically down to Gaiman being nowhere near Cardiff when Richard Clark tweeted that the writer of the episode he was currently filming had visited the set and also Gaiman tweeting earlier this week that he was going to Cardiff mid-week to catch the start of his episode being filmed.

They've actually started filming with the fourth episode (It appears to be called "What Are Little Boys Made Of?"). It looks like the next episodes they'll be filming are Episodes One and Two which will be directed by Toby Haynes who also directed the forthcoming Christmas Special and The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang. After that I don't know a lot, except that Adam Smith who directed The Eleventh Hour and the weeping angels two-parter The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone last series is expected to direct a couple of episodes at some point.

For a rather fuller explanation of what's been going on and loads of other lovely spoilers feel free to visit the chart at Doctor Who Spoilers and click on 'Most Recent Updates' for all of the recent goings on. :D

So you think that these pics are indeed from Episode 4, but that Gaiman has actually written Episode 3? I'll see if I can confirm that.

Gaiman has been saying for months that his episode is the third episode to be aired. As I say, I can't be 100%, but based on what's been said over twitter it certainly appears that way so any clarification that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

I was thinking the cover illustration from The Wolves in the Walls.

ETA: Just saw the mention of Gaiman. Interesting...
