I'd say it's a much better show than the recent Knight Rider. Having fun with this so far. I can't compare between both 5-0's though as I've never seen the original. Though I'm guessing the dynamic is more modern. I'm much happier having this than say, something like CSI: Hawaii.

It's not a bad show, but it's still too generic for my tastes. Sure, it's got some nice scenery, Grace Park, Daniel Dae Kim and the vampire guy as the lead, but it's just your run-of-the-mill cop show. Nothing special or new. I might check out the odd episode, but it's not "must see" tv.

:guffaw: :guffaw: The psycho ring tone is a nice touch. I should do that for when my ex calls me.
Yeah, that was good. :rommie:

Shes always been pretty skinny. It was harder to notice in BSG (I think because of camera tricks and crap) but in her off-BSG photo shoots and interviews, she was extremely skinny

I give it a Good.

I never watched the original, so I'm obviously not comparing the two series. On its own, this episode was entertaining and defined the characters well. I'll continue to watch.

Really? Hmm, guess it's kind of hard to know when she's always been under a flightsuit. Anyhow, thumbs up for me on the show. Certainly a lot of personality from what I've seen, which is better than a lot of the cop/investigation shows out there.

I enjoyed it. Scott Caan's hilarious, and I like the dynamic between him and McGarrett. This was more action-packed and humorous than I was expecting it to be.

I gave it a Good. The show was a lot of fun, well-produced and slick. The cast is the show's strength to be sure. Scott Caan's a blast as Danno. Sounds and talks exactly like his father although he looks like a smaller, older, grittier Bradley Cooper. Always nice to see Grace Park.

I have that same advantage, through pop culutre I know the title, the song, and "Book 'em Dano" but that's about it.

Same here. My dad's a huge fan of the original, but I don't think I've ever seen a full episode of it.

The dynamic between the two leads was good. I think this would have been a good updated version of Miami Vice too like the Miami Vice movie.

In fact the premiere felt like a mini movie.

Lot of unanswered questions like who was the mole that tipped off that Chin Ho's cousin was a cop

I'll probably have more thoughts as the episode soaks in.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen even a second of the original.

Yeah, GP has always been quite skinny but she looks to me like the type who's "naturally skinny" and has to work to put on weight, not anorexic.

Just finished watching it and quite enjoyed. It did seem light on "substance" and was more action-oriented but that's either just the way the pilot was done to set the show up or just the tone the show is going for. We'll see in coming weeks if the show's going to take on more of an investigative slant or if every episode is going to be this action-centric. Though the action and stunts were good in it and you've got to love them using a late-model Mustang. ;)

Good cast, decent premise and I've only seen episodes of the original here and there over the years on syndication, I've no real preconceptions on what the show "should be" to be compared to the original but I do get the sense the original was more "investigative drama" than it was "action." We'll see.

For the time-being I'll continue the threads until/unless interest dies down. I fudged up the poll, but I'd vote "Good" for the episode and I'll tune in next week to see how the show progresses.

Btw, is it just me or is Grace Park way skinny in this? Almost looks anorexic.
Oh yeah, another scrawny chick to kick the ass of bad guys.

Warped 9: Against women's self-defense classes.

Just because she's "scrawny" doesn't mean she can't defend herself or fight-off attackers. Fiancée of a friend of mine is no bigger than Ms. Park, in fact she's probably smaller, and she's a correctional officer in a men's prison and even is working to get into the FBI and she's more than capable of defending herself and passes all of her self-defense/training classes.

Knowing how to attack, where to attack, knowing how to use your strengths and overpower your opponent is more important than bulk. A kick to the chest, the junk, or the head by a woman Ms. Park's size, in hard shoes or boots is going to put any many down, or at the very least hurt and give him pause. A bigger woman, sure, physics tells it'd hurt more, but 98-lb woman still can carry a lot of power behind her punches and kicks.
