Anyone miss Janeway-B'Ellana once Seven came along?

I loved loved loved Seven, but did anyone else miss Janeway's relationship with B'Ellana once Seven came along? Actually now that I think about it, I just missed B'Ellana in general.

YES!! I did!

Barge (?spelling) of the Dead was a great re-hashing of their relationship. It made me feel they will always be close.

I just miss season 1/2 B'Elanna entirely. I know it's an inevitability, but she became boring as she mellowed over the years.

I know this would make her easier to be around for the crew, but as an audience, it's less interesting.

She reminds me of myself really. :)

No.
Be"lanna was Janeway's independent "daughter".
She didn't need to be mentored or nurtured like Seven needed.
I liked that J/B weren't gossipy like Troi/Crusher or Kira/Dax.
Plus, we've seen compassion causes Be'Lanna to be uncomfortable.
I think if they kept a tight bond on J/B relationship, the hug in "Barge.." wouldn't have the impact it does. The hug had impact because they weren't openly affectionate toward each other.

BOTD was awesome, but then again, so was "directive 36 a" from Unimatrix Zero part 1.

J/T never died, it just went underground as P/T matured.

Agreed. One of those scenes I wish to have seen more of.

I missed a lot of the other characters after Seven arrived, including the Janeway and B'Elanna confrontations.

Everyone does. Seven stole the show. She's like the Grinch. =) I always felt that Janeway and B'Elanna's relationship was more like sisters. Granted I have no sisters, but watching my mom and my aunts interact with one another it reminds me of that. Much more fun to watch than Janeway trying to mother Seven and make her more human. What I missed most though was Chakotay, he who helped everyone and was always there for Janeway just kind of faded away into his chair on the bridge in season's 5-7. OK, my short rant is over.

I agree that B'Elanna didn't need to be nurtured or mentored to the same extent as Seven, but B'Elanna still needed Janeway as a sometime mother figure, in my opinion. Not that B'Elanna would ever admit that, mind!

Yes, it's a more professional relationship. Besides, I think gossipfests would be out of character for them.

Yes, but it's possible to give motherly support without being mushy, something I need to do with my teenage daughter. :)

Well said.

I hope you're feeling better. *passes exodus a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows*

Better send some chicken soup to mairbeariepie at the same time.

I find it interesting that neither J/b or J/7 are "mushy". A testament to the three characters these women portray.

Thank you. :D My hubby went off to go and get me some chicken noodle soup, while he grabs the vanilla ice cream, and takes our daughter to his mom. So it's just me watching Caretaker right now until he comes home to feed me and risk his health to snuggle with me. ;) Awwww, the joys of being sick.

I swear I don't exploit my husband. Well . . . Maybe a little.

Yes, I did.

In fact, B'Elanna became superfluous in the later seasons which was a shame.

But most of all I miss Kes! :(

^^ Kes and Janeway were the closest to "mushy" in the series... and I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean it really was a different relationship between Janeway and Kes vs B'Elanna vs Seven. Kes not only brought out the Mother in Janeway, she brought out the woman who needed a confidant. I think it interesting that the Chakotay/Janeway relationship... their dinners alone etc, took off 2 years after Kes left. I suspect Janeway realized she needed an outlet, and after "Night" so did Chakotay.
