Why Did You Join TBBS?

I think I was a member of the Startrek.com forum... maybe just lurking. Anyway, there were links there to Cogley's reviews of Enterprise episodes. I lurked some and saw that actual Enterprise writers were posting and interacting with fans here. I tried to sign-up immediately. I failed miserably... I think because I was using a hotmail address. Eventually it occurred to me to try my school e-mail address instead and here I am.

[...] then I got told off for typing in italics!

I remember that. I still think you should have kept it up just to annoy whoever it was that told you off.

I had to look that up and found that you Jenee stood up for me for which I thank you, 2 years later :techman:

can't do the quote bit but from Sept 4th 2008

"Don't listen to them K'ehleyr. I like it. It sets you apart from other posts. Everyone has their own schtick - well, not everyone, but alot ..., ok some posters have a schtick, and the ones who complain about it are just jealous. "

And now I know their name :klingon:

I had been waiting for the final season of VOY to air here in the UK, and I was super excited (don't laugh), and wanted spoilers about the season finale because I knew viewers in the states had already seen Endgame.

The VOY forum was quite something back then... spectacularly lively... I remember being shocked at the bashers and continual conflict! And that's when I first became exposed to Janeway/Seven subtext, which I didn't credit at first. Good times! :D

I was really into Voyager as well, and was just discovering this marvel called the Interweb.

Although I think I first heard about the Janeway/Seven thing at The J Team, where I was very active as well. That was a cool spot.

Oh, and I got warned really quickly for asking for a good place to download Enterprise episodes. I thought I was justified because I couldn't get UPN where I lived at the time and was having to wait until I visited my parents and could get the tapes my ex-girlfriend's mother was making for me.

^ Wow. I remember that! :rommie: <----- This is me laughing because I remember something and not me laughing at your warning and the pain it caused you as a newbie. My memory is terrible sometimes.

In eighth grade I used to read Jim Wright's Voyager reviews, and every so often I'd check out a link to TrekToday. TrekToday had a link to recent board posts, and I guess I must've wanted to reply to one someday.
Oh, yeah, Jim Wright's reviews were the best thing! By season 3 he could be excruciatingly funny, about Helm Boy and Engine Girl, for example, and when an ep was bad he coul;d be cutting. I'd read his reviews months befopre we go the eps down under (the whole 'other sources' thing being not available at theat time).

I do remember that! While reading the other thread and exchanging hellos with you, I tried to remember where you and I started talking because it's been years since I posted in Misc with any frequency and you don't often get into TNZ.

That was in a QSF thread, wasn't it?

Thanks, now my brain can relax.

I heard there were a lot of hot chicks here.

srsly. I was new to the idea of internet communities and knew there must be a place for fellow Trekkies to gather. This was like, all of about 1 1/2 yrs ago . . .

I was reading the Destiny trilogy, and wanted to get a better idea of what the Aventine looked like, so I decided to look it up. A google search took me here, well... here actually, so I bookmarked it and after lurking for a few days I decided to join. From there I made it to Blue Warp Nacelles and my love of this site was secured.

Huh...you know I honestly don't remember why I joined. Don't even recall how I found this place. Weird. I guess, I just did it. Knowing me, probably did it cause it was something that looked fun. Granted it was seven years ago, still. Oh well, I'll be here as long as it (1) it's fun and (2) I have a half-way decent 'net connection.

Found it while looking for news about this new exciting show called Enterprise. Lurked for a month or two and started slowly posting. I don't think I picked up speed until I was a member for four years and hit 1k posts.

Strange to think that I was a Freshman when I joined. Seems like a lifetime ago.

I'd been visiting TrekToday as a sort of supplemental service for information on the franchise, having been going to TrekMovie instead since well before the new movie debuted. One day I decided to check out the forums.

You can read about the rest of my exciting story when the book gets published.

No worries. It really wasn't all that painful.

I can't remember why I joined 7 years ago but am glad I did because despite some idiots, this board is a lot of fun and great for discussion...

though I do use the term discussion lightly when talking about the TNZ :p

found this board from another one. I think it was a fasa game site. tried to join before but for some reason my ip was blocked(turned out my house mate at the time was being banned from most of the boards he was on) anyways joined just over 2 years ago thinking ' that looks good'.

I was a member of a small board called Fire and Ice (if I remember correctly...), dedicated to Janeway/Seven when one day the owner asked us to go and register at the Big Bad Blue (the TrekBBS) and go to the VOY forum and vote for J/7 in a poll.
So I did, and 8 years afterward I'm still here.
