Since I'm not new here, I had to vote for "Other".

I don't think that the Voyager fans are a dying breed. A lot of us are dissapointed with certain aspects of the show but we remain fans for some strange reason.

And there are currently new fans showing up on different forums.

I became a die-hard Trekkie *after* VOY concluded and I was able to tape all the reruns. From there I became an equally fan of TNG and DS9, but I have a soft spot for VOY.

Sure, it had its flaws. But it's fun characters, odd/incredible events, set it apart. I'm glad we have all three distinct shows.

I know VOY tends to engender considerable scorn, but I doubt the ratio of VOY fans to non-fans is changing quickly.

Its emphasis on action and more modern SFX/sets may in fact attrack new Trek fans who became exposed via STXI.

I generally like the show, but I'm finding that there's some areas where it lets me down.

I don't get those who scorn the show out of hand; it seems to have about the same ratio of good to crap as every other iteration of Trek I've seen.

And when it's good, it's incredible.

I still like Voyager, but I have all 5 series now, and I'm currently watching the 6th (TAS) which I've never seen. Also, there isn't much that really excites me about Voyager these days, but it always comes in cycles. One of these times when I'm in the mood I'll get back into watching Voyager and posting about it here. That, and the episode I'm at now when I left off way back when was Innocence and I don't like that episode very much. T'was boring. Of course the next episode I think is The Thaw and I liked that one with the Clown and Roosavelt quotes and stuff like that.

A lot of Voyager fans aren't the kind of people who come on trek forums, there are a lot out there which isn't surprising seeing as how easy it is to get into Voyager compared to DS9.
I'm a fan of Star Trek which means I like all the shows, I simply don't understand Trek fans who like one or two of the 90s shows but not another.
Voyager was a letdown in many ways but it was still high quality tv.

Although my personal favourite is TOS, I've always viewed Star Trek as a "whole", and quite epic in its breadth. I love the entire body of work to varying degrees, and can find pleasure immersing myself in the extended Trek universe regardless of the flavour! It was only coming to sites like this that revealed a sometimes vocal, divergent and polarised fan base!

Exactly how I feel. VOY certainly isn't my favorite of the 5 series, but that doesn't mean I hate it. I don't even dislike it; I love VOY.

VOY had it's problems, but that didn't make me not enjoy it.

My personal perference for the shows is....

DS9 > ENT > TNG > VOY > TOS.

However, for me that's like being asked to rank Playboy centerfolds. They're all beautiful, but if you're going to rank them, some have to come in last.

 Excellent anology, Admiral Shran. How do you choose between Misty one month, and Stephanie the next!!! ;) But you're so right, that's exactly how I feel about Trek too.

I don't want to usurp this into a ranking thread, but for me:

TOS>DS9>VOY>ENT>TNG.

Back on topic; I can't really see Voyager picking up many new fans in the current climate, I think the JJ-Verse will become the natural and embryonic backdrop for future Trek in the foreseeable future - not that I have any problem with that.

Last years' film caused a spike in sales of all Star Trek DVD sets. Casual fans, newbies and the hardcore Trekkies like me couldn't really give a shit about alternate timelines and the like - it's all Star Trek, and if you like one there's a good chance you'll enjoy some of the others. Thus people will continue to seek them out.

Along with later DS9 and Enterprise, Voyager still holds up. It hasn't dated like TOS (which has entered the Adam West Batman zone of iconic campyness) or TNG (which, particularly early on, just appears dated and slow) have.

There are over 50,000 members of the largest Voyager fan site on Facebook, and it gets larger everyday. I was kind of surprised about all the Voyager support when I went looking for it elsewhere. Many are new fans that have just started watching the DVDs. So thay are certainly out there (and fandom is not just limited to BBS, how about that). I kind of drifted away from Voyager for a few years and just got back into it early last year, and was pleased that the fandom is still pretty active, and perhaps even growing, yay!

I would say with all the re-runs showing (well atleast in the UK) a lot of people are coming into the fold. Just like the original series, some may not have been around/old enough to watch it on its first viewing.

I have lent out my Voyager dvds to someone who was interested and is now absolutly in LOVE with the series and wants to watch it till the end.

Given the number of people who are either giving it another chance or watching for the first time I'd say "no". :)
