Not just Voyager either. Actually the entire first season of SG-1 is a marathon of ripoffs from better/more memorable movies and TV shows, mostly from TOS and TNG, plus one anomaly that's either Omega Glory or Apocalypse Now, or both.

It's one of the reasons I detest Stargate SG-1.

I hardly mind that, plus the first season of Stargate SG-1 is decidedly dodgy to begin with. I think of it as on-par with the first season of Deep Space Nine -- some gems, some mediocre pieces.

But yes, I really don't mind the ripping off of other works early on in that series. I've always been a believer that it's the characters and their interactions and conclusions in regard to a situation that will sell it, not the situation itself. So when Jack O'Neill makes a humorous quip about how ridiculous something is, I tend to enjoy it more than when Other Character simply narrows their eyes and deals with the problem.

Ah, yes, the endless desire to throw the crews into 'current-day Earth'. It's always funny looking back at those installments when times have changed since the projected 'modern' attempt has aired. The Enterprise depiction still feels fairly fresh, but even the Voyager-goes-to-the-90's thing looks dated now.

There's a scene in TNG Phantasms where Data hears a telephone ringing, he opens a large panel in his torso (which is hollow) and pulls out a out-style phone, not exactly a recycle but, this really reminds me of just about every episode of Futurama and Bender.

That's the damn episode. I'd been trying to place that scene for a while. Somehow I thought I was going to see it in "Frame of Mind" and got rather miffed when I didn't.

TOS: "The Naked Time"/TNG: "The Naked Now"

Just a comment here: TNG did credit the original writer of the TOS episode in this case (John D. F. Black), and it was stated in the episode that the virus was similar to the one encountered by Kirk's ship. Not really a remake passed off as a new one, so much as an attempted sequel that drives over the same terrain.

Oh please, the actual writing on SG-1 season 1 (and 2 from what I've seen) is far below the level of that on DS9. Its not surprising to see that Kathryn "Code of Honor" Powers wrote a lot of episodes.
