Alright, I want to know what the hype is about...

Thank you for your thoughts and experiences, Praxius.

And DS9 Gal AZ... Oh I'm watching it. I'm watching the great with the mind-scrubbing episodes. I want to experience it all. But I promise that I will watch it all and not scrap the entire series on a few crappy episodes. (I mean I'm an Enterprise fan, for cryin' out loud. If that doesn't scream, "I forgive bad writing easily" I don't know what does! :p)

Okay, star, but don't come crying to me when you can't get that stupid, annoying little rhyme out of your head (you'll know what I'm talking about when you see the episode). Oh man, an Enterprise fan? You know I think I watched a few episodes, but I just couldn't get into it. The only thing about Enterprise that I remember was an episode where there was this super seductive female alien that made everyone she came in contact with want to get it on with her regardless of gender, species or orientation. I seem to remember a scene between her and the Vulcan female on that show that looked like the start of a porn movie... not a good way to remember a show, LOL.

"Allamaraine, count to four, Allamaraine, then three more, Allamaraine, if you can see, Allamaraine, you'll come with me..."I want to slit my scrotum w/a dull razor after this and then see the Wadi w/their dumbass sticks and mullets I simply pull the testicles out

Allamarain! :p If it makes you feel better, consider how their first contact with the Dominion likely went...

I like DS9 for many of the reasons I liked LOST. Big fan of continuity and arcs here, and Trek hasn't done well with that except for DS9 and the last two seasons of ENT...god, I'm still annoyed about how they squandered the first half of that series.

Much like Buffy-Angel or Family Guy-American Dad-The Cleveland Show, this is also a scenario for me where the spin-off ultimately ended up equalling and not infrequently surpassing its predecessor.

Damn it, Photon and DonIago, you got that damned song back in my head! "Allamarain...." NonononoNO! AUUUUGH!

*runs screaming out of thread*

Okay, I'm back ... feeling kind of woozy, had to bang my head against the wall a couple of times to get the song out...

Seriously, though, the Wadi? Lamest. Aliens. EVER! I wish the Dominion wiped them all out. Seriously, it wouldn't be genocide, it would be a service the rest of the universe.

That's Rajiin, which isn't a great episode, and it definitely pandered to to the segment of the audience that have penises. The show as a whole is okay, but it takes some getting used to, with season 2 being the only poor season. Season 3 is good when it's focusing on the Xindi arc, that's the closest that Star Trek got to DS9 levels of excitement since What You Leave Behind.

Or were lesbians. LOL

Damn you for that clip! THE SONG! IT HAUNTS ME! AUUUUUUUUGH!!!

Or were lesbians. LOL
Nah. Lesbians are women, and women are smarter and have greater self respect than men, so when they see a show pandering to their base desires, they take offence and turn off the TV. Meanwhile, men will get offended but wont turn it off until after that scene is finished, and they'll remain seated for a another minute or two before getting up.

Allamaraine! :p

So that's why ENT ratings went down! Straight women were turning off their TVs in disgust whenever Archer, Trip, Malcolm and/or Travis had their shirts off (i.e. in every second episode). And of course, every non-lesbian female Trek fan was disgusted when Kirk and Spock were shirtless in a prison cell together. ;)

Another thing about DS9 that was better. They also had a "lesbian" scene, but unlike on Enterprise, it was tastefully done and didn't look like the start of a porno movie. It was actually a very poignant, sad little story about two lovers reconnecting. I won't say anymore; those who've seen DS9 should know what I'm talking about, and those who haven't, I don't want to spoil it.

DonIago, I'm not referring to homosexuality/lesbianism in the MU episodes, I'm referring to the season 4 Episoded "Rejoined," with Dax.

That was back in the 60s, when women were second class citizens and were only allowed to change the channel if their husband gave them permission. Women were so incensed by this that they started burning their bras to gain the right to switch off the television whenever something sexually appealing to them appeared on screen. True story. :)

The MU episodes? :)

(ducks)
There was nothing tasteless or borderline pornographic about that scene, it was just two attractive women in tight leather outfits making out a little.

Hang on a minute.

Okay, I can stand up again. :alienblush:

All kidding aside, I actually didn't like the homosexuality in the MU, because it was supposed to be the universe where everything was "wrong," so the message was that homsexuality could only exist in the "wrong" world of the MU was not a good one to send, IMO. I much preferred the kiss between Dax and what's-her-name, a real angsty love story.

I wouldn't say that everything was wrong in the MU. There were still good people and good deeds to be found, it just wasn't as easy.

I'm also guessing it wasn't as clear as I thought it was that my MU remark was a joke...

Oh no, I know you were kidding. It's all good. It's not like I didn't enjoy the MU. Intendant Kira? Good lord... let's just say that woman helped me come to certain ... realizations about myself.

But what I'm saying is, if you're looking for a genuinely touching portrayal of homosexuality/Lesbianism that's not just about titillating the audience, then season 4's "Rejoined" is the way to go.

I never really considered that angle. Yeah, "Rejoined" is one of the very few stories with lesbian undertones in it that I find to have been done quite well.

The writers insist to this day that that just developed naturally while penning the episode and it wasn't the intent to showcase "two hot women making out" at any time during production, and it shows in the final product.

*glares at Enterprise*

No, wait.
