NFL Training Camp / Preseason 2010

After a visit yesterday from Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson and Ryan Longwell at his Hattiesburg home, during which they implored him to return to the team, Brett Favre is apparently on a plane bound for Minnesota. The Vikings have reportedly been in panic mode over Favre's status as of late (going so far as to contact Jeff Garcia to gauge his interest in playing again, according to one report).

Of course, the Vikings' training camp is now closed and they are back to their practice facility in Eden Prairie, so this sounds like a repeat of the stunt Favre pulled last year -- play around and be coy about his status all summer so he doesn't trigger any rules violations, dodge training camp, and then report to the team.

Favregate '10!

Even a Minneapolis newspaper mentioned that Favre has vacillated and done his back-and-forth routine on retirement since 2002. (I didn't realize it had gone on that long, but a bit of research indicates that this is true.)

At this point, I hope Favre is living on the moon next summer and the Vikings send VSS Enterprise to bring him to Minnesota.

Funny headline today if you only do a quick glance:

Seahawks cut Adrian Peterson to add Kentwan Balmer

I thought this Adrian Peterson was on the Bears. I'd really hate to have the same name as one of the greatest players in the game only to think they're not talking about you.

The Bears recently cut him.

Actually I know someone in one of my fantasy football leagues who drafted him late thinking he was getting a steal because no one had picked him yet. :guffaw:

Oh, Adrian Peterson the Lesser. May you live on as a second-stringer on shitty teams.

Favregate '10!

Just like Favregate '08, '09, and I think '07? ;)

Almost exactly like Favregate '09. I got a sense of deja vu watching reporters once again chase his slow black SUV down the streets. I'm already sick of the media hoopla. The Twins are in the midst of a pennant race, yet with all the focus on #4, you'd never know it from listening to the media.

I'm hoping the first game against the Saints goes exactly like the last one- leg injury and all.

From last year at about this time, still seems appropriate.

The Packers still seem to be the favorites in that division. How interesting would it be to see Minnesota go into Lambeau as a wild card for a playoff game and get waxed to end his career?

I think the Saints, Cowboys, and Packers are better picks to win the NFC than the Vikes at this point.

Nice work, Siefert!

Minnesota Vikings receiver Percy Harvin collapsed while watching practice Thursday and was taken away in an ambulance.

ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert writes about all things NFC North in his division

Migraine, who suffers from severe migraine headaches, vomited and then fell to the ground, the Star Tribune reported.
Coach Brad Childress says Harvin was able to speak, but was disoriented for a few minutes after he passed out at Thursday's practice. Childress says Harvin may have had a migraine headache attack, and he was taken to an unspecified hospital.
Harvin, the reigning winner of the NFL's offensive rookie of the year award, missed two weeks of training camp this season because of migraines. Harvin's grandmother died two days into training camp, and then his migraine headaches flared up.

I've had a couple of nasty Harvins over the years myself.

The impressive / amusing thing about the NFC North is that it boasts some of the best defensive lines & quarterbacks in the country. Combined, all four teams could field one decent offensive line and maybe one or two capable backups.
