What if you could've been an Extra?

Which role would you choose?

If you could've had a chance of being an Extra on any Star Trek series and you could choose one role from the above options, which one would you choose?

(Crewman in corridor basically means a walk on part in a ships corridor, couldn't think of what else to call it.)

I said security guard, because I did it in real life, and because I'd probably be able to convincingly act surprised when the villain escapes from the detention cell and stuns or kills me.

Runner-up is "crewman in corridor." There's a lot of latitude there--who am I, and where am I going? That would be a lot of fun.

If I could have been an Extra, I'd want to be a redshirt. Assuming that something would blow up in my face, or I would die some sort of horrible way on a planet. Really, if you're only on Trek for a few minutes, it's best to go out with a bang.

I'd want to be a redshirt (or yellow if it was new Trek) to get a stupid death. Exploding console would be a fun death but I think being keen to go on an away mission and then getting killed right away is the classic.

Science would be my next choice to wear a nice blue shirt.

I´d be a background Cardassian. :D
However if it has to be Federation than I´d choose a medical crewman.

First impulse was helm officer, but then I considered I've been (not-so-extensively) trained in the field of acting. It requires a certain level of skill to make the helm officer role believable (I saw an episode of TNG the other day, can't remember which, but the poor young lady at the helm just wasn't believable at all) but it would be more interesting to walk down the corridor alongside someone else as a couple of senior officers pass, and do something odd and noticeable.

I was thinking I'd shoot the idea at the powers-that-be in which I'm telling a joke, or better yet, my partner is telling a joke and I'm going through a broad range of facial expressions clearly indicating I either didn't get it or wasn't impressed. It's things like this that interest me most in tiny roles: do something a little off and enjoy pointing it out to friends in the coming years.

"See? There's Riker and Geordi... oh, oh, there we are. She's telling the joke... telling the joke... well, camera just focused on Geordi. There we are again, in the background. Watch my face, watch my face. Yep, I totally didn't think it was funny. Oh, poor girl is heartbroken. Well, there was that. Time to watch Riker's lips move for fifteen seconds... and we're gone."

Science crewman.

Do you have any idea how awesome it would look in my résumé for any astrophysics research fellow position? ;)

A redshirt. That would be a basis for some jokes. My second choice would be the science department, so that I'd get to wear a nice blue uniform.

I chose helm, since I always fantasized about being a helm officer on Star Trek. (Sulu was always one of my favorites.)

I'd want to be a crewman in corridor -- preferably one in either The Cage or Where No Man Has Gone Before since the females got to wear cool pants.

I'd be a medical officer - that way I could hand an instrument to the doctor during surgery when asked with a stiff, self-conscious look on my face. That's all the medical extras do right?
