MOAR PICS

Wow. I always wanted to take night pictures. I haven't figured how to do so with my D-40 Nikon camera. I would like to take one of DC from National Cathedral but they close at 5. Well, I could try around December 20th...
Use a tripod and a long exposure time.

^DC is gorgeous at night. I managed to get some neat shots the last time I was there when my friend took me on a nighttime tour of the monuments.

Well yes. The other day, My fiancee and I watched Wedding Crashers. We enjoyed it. Anyway, it was set in the DC area. She said it didn't look like DC aside from the shots with the Washington Monument because it looked too clean to be DC. So I figure night pictures of DC would be better.;)

Nighttime is definitely the way to go. :techman:

Here are a couple from my trip. They're a few years old, and I was just kind of snapping away with my crappy camera, but I like them. I wish I had known more about photography at the time so they would have turned out better:

I even tried smiling, Herculean effort, I tells ya.

Flukie, your haircut rocks!

Re: the moon photo. I can't believe I didn't think of the episode's title when you quoted Vreenak, Yeoman Randi. Must be time for me to finish off my DS9 on DVD collection.

As for the photo itself, I'm just an amateur with a point'n'shoot. A co-worker had mentioned on Facebook last night how cool the moon looked and so I hurried outside and set up my mini-tripod and camera. Found the moon, zoomed all the way in and started setting the automatic timer to take the pictures on each setting. The one I posted was shot using a pre-programed setting for photographing food, of all things.

That said, last I knew, Bears Discover Fire was a professional photographer, so you'd probably do quite well listening to her suggestions.

:)

Yeah. Last night, the moon was an awesome hue of gold as it hovered over DC.

I'm disappointed in myself! It's one of my favourite episodes in one of my favourite series of all time!

*sulks*
