Any Trek authors pitched a post Romulus story to Pocketbooks yet?

I've been really enjoying the post-Nemesis Romulan story arc. The destruction of Romulus obviously wasn't in the original long-term plan for the novels, but I think it's a fantastic opportunity for the writers. It shouldn't be wasted or brushed under the intergalactic rug.

This is just a guess on my part, but chances are, some authors will be chomping at the bit to get their teeth into a post-Romulus universe, while others will want to go off and do their own thing. Same as always.

Heck, the last TNG story I wrote was all about the Pakleds!

Didn't the space amoeba eat a bunch of planets? Or was going to, at any rate. The point is, might not be the best way to talk down people who think Trek is being taken over by "Genocide Chic."

I disagree with the general consensus of the whiners that the Romulan Empire consisted of one planet. And, it's possible that Emperor Palpatine's clone was not on Romulus when it got blowed up. He could have the Empire up and runnning again in no time.

At the start of the episode, it was discovered that the Gamma 7A system, which had billions of inhabitants, was entirely dead. The Intrepid was investigating that system at the time of its destruction.

So between that and the over four billion Malurians wiped out by Nomad, and maybe a couple of billion deaths in the 500-year-long Eminiar-Vendikar war (1-3 million per year per planet), TOS had a pretty massive death toll.

It's no worse than TUC treating the destruction of the Klingon homeworld as equivalent to the destruction of the entire Klingon Empire. In defense of both films, however, many empires are highly centralized and could fall apart if the center of power were destroyed.

Nero says he is the last of the Romulan of the Romulan Empire, which suggest that the empire may have fallen but still exists in some form.

Spock on the other hand states that in his estimation there are fewer than 10,000 Vulcans left and he is a member of an endangered species. (Ignoring the fact that Romulans and Vulcans are virtually identical).

Speaking of which, have you read it yet? We had a whole long conversation where a few people explained to you how many of your assumptions about the post-Destiny books were wrong, but it still seems like you're off on this whole slippery-slope "how much higher does the death toll have to go?" rant that has little to do with reality.

Again: Losing The Peace and A Singular Destiny were written, in part, specifically to address this exact concern of yours. I think you'd at least want to hear the answer to your question before deciding it's the wrong one.

Nah. Maybe twenty people on the planet even noticed the inconsistency you call an "error," without someone telling them about it.

Again, I don't think your point is an ill-conceived one; I mentioned before that it mostly just comes down to a matter of opinion about how much destruction is too much, and I can pretty easily see how you'd think there's been too much lately. It's part of the reason I was so impressed with those two books, though; as much as I adored Destiny, it was definitely necessary to start things back towards the light.

Definitely post your thoughts when you read them, good or bad; I look forward to reading them.
