Hello, please help.

Which series should watch the beginning of a person who is a beginner in the world Startrek ?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the world of Star Trek!

I'm sure others will vote in and say start with Enterprise since it "takes place before The Original Series (TOS)",..... but my vote goes to starting with TOS. Have fun!

Anyone who says that should get a permaban.

Another vote for TOS. Also, I'd say go ahead and try for the remastered versions. They're much more accessible to a *new* person.

I agree, start with the original, but I also don't think it hurts to start with ENTERPRISE. The continuity errors in ENTERPRISE might confuse the hell out our new friend, but, that's what we're here for.

Whatever you want. Every series and movie was a first exposure to Trek for someone. For me, it was TNG. Out there, there is someone who was first exposed to Trek by TATV.

The fun of Star Trek is that there is a lot of it. We all like different series and movies. I would suggest you watch the original series first, though. It's where the whole fandom started.

If they start with ENTERRISE, how would they know?;)

You can start from TOS or TNG, or mix between them. Order of episodes is not important. Then you can move to other series.

PS. Welcome to my countryman, witam na forum

Try TOS first because everything else is based on it. If you have a hard time getting through it because of how dated it is, fast-forward to TNG. I would avoid DS9 and Voy until you finish TNG though.

If they're smart, it shouldn't take them long.;)

I would've said TOS or TNG too. I started off with TNG back when it first started (I was only about 5 or 6 when I first saw it), so as a kid TOS felt a bit backwards to me. That was 20 years ago, so I'd say flip a coin or watch them both as the mood takes you.

My advice would be to leave Enterprise til last though, just so the little nods to the other Trek series are fun to discover and understand.

Happy watching with whatever you choose tho :)

^I remember fearing a really lame TNG reference in a certain Season 4 episode
Arik Soong having a drawing of a Data-like figure in that journal at the end where he commented that he might go into cybertenics

Ohhh I didn't expect you to say that... I was expecting something more along the lines of:

These Are The Voyages :p A fear all too well realised if I recall correctly

I vote you start with The Next Generation. For me, a child of the 80s, TOS is boring, cheesy, and incredibly dated. TV was different back in the 60s compared to what we are used to now. Starting with TNG will set you up for the "modern" world of Trek, where you can then go to DS9 (my fav) and VOY (not great but not terrible).

It's possible that TOS could be too dated for a new person who is used to the style and speed of TV today, so, if you want something you can jump right into, I'd say start with The Next Generation (the first two seasons have some cheesy stuff and some gems, but it takes off after that and is excellent). But if you don't have a problem with the different style of TV in the 60s, then jump right into the original series.

The most important is to have fun...following that, after you develop a thick skin, be sure to pop into the forum dedicated to your starter series and start spouting off your opinions...

As for me..TNG is now rather dated..DS9 would require a series primer to get it all right..VOY has the same issues as DS9....So perhaps ENT would be a good way to start.with the latest Star Trek film following...then follow that up with TOS..TOS movies..TNG.. DS9..TNG movies then VOY...

But pick your poison and stick with it...

Personally, as another noob to all this, I think TOS is a good place to start but I'm also watching some of the TNG episodes as well. TOS is very dated but if you can get past some of the 60s feel to it (i.e. production values and colors) and at times, questionable acting, it can be quite enjoyable. But then again, I've watched some series from the 60s before like Batman and The Monkees when I was a little kid in the 80s and didn't know the difference.
