TOS era Corvette

Thought I'd do some work on a Corvette I made a while ago. I really like this ship and decided to as some long neglected detail to it. Primarily some grid lines, (much better then paint alone), some windows, and changed some paint around.

The idea was based on the Defiant, and what a fast warp and sub-light ship would look like- essentially, the impulse deck with two warp engines and a small bridge on top.

Any thoughts?

I really like the way your doing the panels and texturing.

The flat, forward-facing hull on either side of your ship's snout would be a good place for stereo mini-dishes, in keeping with TOS treknology. Are you gonna give this ship a mini-shuttlebay as well? It could get by with a NX-01 / Dragos-style drop-bay amidships. This bay could also serve as a cargo hatch.

I don't know about a layout. Though I always say that, I usually do it.

I agress about the dishes, though I was thinking something more like the bow of the Enterprise. Something recessed into the bow here as opposed to sticking out. It would look like 2 windows really.

As for a shuttle bay, I don't really have much room to work with- I believe the ship is 57 meters from bow to the end of the warp nacelles. It's a small ship, crewed by 27 people. That said, maybe something smaller then the NX bay. something closer to how a captains yacht maybe, but completey enclosed in the ship...

A few suggestions though:

1a The nacelles are upside down and this looks odd. My interpretation of your design is, that this are supposed to be the same model of nacelle as on Constitution. I would at least rotate the end caps and the three boxes on the front to the same relative orientation, as on the Constitution, which should be allowed by the nacelle construction. Ideallyalso the intercoolers, although this would need a constructive modification of the nacelle.1b Your nacelles seem to have two flux chiller assemblies, one on the inboard and one on the outboard side.

2. Might i suggest to put a sensor array (the thing in the center of the Constitution saucer's underside) on the botto side of the hull, centerd under the bridge.

3. Your design seems to not have visible phasers in the front and rear arcs.

As far as a "shuttlebay" the Defiant (DS9) had that small drop pod type thing underneath. Quite small if I remember.

^Nah, clearly a reproduction. If it were an actual 1963 corvette his father would have killed him and ended the movie. (saving the fans alot of debates over other aspects)

Have you looked at John Byrne's Leonard McCoy, Frontier Doctor comic? It's set betwwn TOS and TMP, has a similar size and function (looks to be smaller than your ship, though maybe not a whole lot).

So- the nacelles were actually supposed to just have the inside coolers. Unfortunately due to a model error, I got one with two coolers. It was then that I thought that this is a fast little ship with high energy output and this seemed to fit. As for them being upside down, I really think that some of the orientation is really more relative to the nacelle's position to the ship. Should they had been above the hull, then I would have placed the cap detailings on the underside.

I agree with the need for the planetary sensor under the hull, and I can't believe I didn't think of it! Thank You!

The phasers... That's still a WIP. I'm not certain how I want to make them known, since they were never really detailed on TOS's Enterprise. Perhaps from the ring around the planetary sensor- they have been shown to emit from that location (amongst others)... And do I detail them as hatches, shown only when you zoom right up to them? Maybe by markings "danger", or that sort of thing- again up close.

Ya. Funny, I never actually saw any episode with it. DS9 is the only Trek series I haven't seen in it's entirety. I was so excited when it came out, but lost interest when they didn't really Star Trek!

I think I'll take my mom's 66 for a spin. silver with blue leather interior and a black soft top. It's a sweet little car.

I have now. It looks like a well illustrated comic! Can't say I'm too fond of the ship though. The nacelles are in the wrong location and it's a little too organic looking. But the people look awesome! Thanks for showing this!

^ yea, comic artists seem to universally draw bad spacecraft. I think it has something to do with them studying the human form all the time.
