In honesty, how likely are we to see 24th century Trek again?

I can't see it happening at any point in the near future. I'd expect future series to take their cues from Star Trek (2009), and that's fine by me.

The era a show is set in isn't really very important to me. As for revisiting TNG/DS9/VOY and their characters, I don't really feel the need. Those shows ran for seven seasons, which is longer than most sci-fi shows get. After a certain point I think it's better to move onto something new.

I think it's likely we'll get a kiddie's cartoon if the next movie is successful. It's not impossible that it'd be set in the Prime universe (like the aborted Final Frontier cartoon www.zeroroomproductions.com), although a pocket universe of it's own based on nuTrek is far more likely.

Even if it is set in the Prime universe, it won't be TNG storytelling, it'll be a children's show.

Best bet? An Of Gods and Men style fan film mashup of a few 24th century Trek actors who didn't go on to better things.

I'd like to see a film with DS9 and VOY characters, though I can't see it happening. It would prolly be difficult to do a series and get all the characters back together so I'd be happy with new characters and some cameos from TNG, DS9 and VOY. I imagine it would be more likely that they'd go for a 25th century series so they could bust out some fancy new tech.

I think that the success of Star Trek (2009) means that the Abramsverse re-booted 23rd century is the future of the franchise, at least for the next several years. A sequel is already in-the-works for 2012. I believe the cast is also signed for a third feature film, which I could see happening if the next film is successful.

After that, I could see another film or even possibly a series based in the Abramsverse and likely connected to the Enterprise or its characters in some fashion (but not featuring the TOS crew).

I don't think we'll see the "prime" universe again, and I definitely don't think we'll see the 24th century again.

We had three 24th-century Trek series and you want to go back?! The Alpha, Delta and Gamma quadrants were pretty thoroughly explored during 21 (overlapping) seasons.

That leaves Beta.

Gee, I wonder what the Mary Poppins-practically-perfect-in-every-way crew of the Voyaprise will discover there. I'm thinking ... Aliens!!
Some will be friendly :).
Some will be hostile .
Some will be duplicitous :shifty:.
Some will be stupid

.
Some will be boring

.
And some will be KLINGONS :klingon:!!!!
The last three are redundant.
 Good point.

I'd rather revisit the Prime-24th Century than have another visit to the Abrams-verse.

I agree, but unfortunately it seems the unwashed masses would prefer the mess of filmaking the Abrams movie was. That means we'll be "enjoying" pretty splosions, lens flares, aquatic animals in space and leading zeroes for years to come.

I don't think we'll ever see the 24th-Century again ever. Not even as as a reboot.

I disagree. TNG was a pretty popular show, and these days anything that was popular yesterday is being selected today to be remade tomorrow. By the time Abrams is done with the rebooted TOS, someone is going to notice that TNG is so far in the past that it's time it be brought back for nostalgia purposes, and then bam! Three years later, nuTNG.

I would like to see the Prime 24th Century again. As it was said before, it doesn't have to have characters from TNG/DS9/VOY it can be a whole new crew with new adventures. There is a lot to explore with the end of the Dominion War. There are threads that were dropped from the 24th Century that can be picked up. It can work but, like all good TV, it'll need strong support from the network and studio, good writing and good acting.

I'd say make a 26th Century movie/series on the Enterprise J.

A ship full of Androids like Data and Holograms running ship systems. They are manned by numerous alien races including races from the Delta Quadrant (the Delta Quadrant was explored in the 25th Century due to transphasic technology which allowed ships to go up to Warp 20.

The problem with Warp 20 is that it breaks space/time. Going at Maximum Space 20 causes the ship and the crew inside to go forward in time. The maximum safe speed is 19.9946 warp. To go 20 requires authorization by the Captain and the First Officer, and this is under threat of Court Martial.

Going into the past is an easy trick, just take a ship and whip it around the sun or a similiar star at transwarp. This was first done with a 23rd Century with a Klingon Bird of Prey by Captain Kirk and his crew. By the 26th Century, the scientific understanding of this is well understood but outlawed by convention.

This Universe will have a lot of races that we know and love, with a relative peace between them all. The Klingons and the Cardassians are members of the Federation. Cardassians serve more on Federation vessals, while most Klingons stay with their own military forces of the Empire.

Sisko and Kassidy's great-great-great-great grandchild is the Grand Kai on Bajor However, a faction of Bajorians following the decendent of Jake Sisko as a religious leader. The two sides have plunged themselves into a civil war over this issue. The Prophets have not spoken since Sisko was raised into heaven by the Prophets. Maybe an Enterprise J story would be to get The Sisko from the Temple by way of an Orb to stop the fighting and reunite the people.

The Temporal Prime Directive is established for rules of conduct in space/time.

1.) Don't travel in time, future or past if avoided.

2.) If stuck in an alternate time, try to blend in.

3.) Do not make inventions or technology not pertaining to the time period for personal or financial gain. (Mr. Scott violated this, giving the 20th Century manager the formula for transparent aluminum.)

4.) If you mess with the timeline and are arrested and sent back, the penalty is life imprisonment.

^ No offense, but no thank you. Oh, just reading that makes me shake my head.
Too complicated, too overreaching, too contrived. It's more fan clique than workable storyline.

Personally, I'm looking forward to a series based on J.J.'s 23rd century, and hope it comes to pass. I love Star Trek 2009 and think a new series would be a nice corollary to the movies.

how likely are we to see 24th century Trek again?

The odds of that happening are the same as you getting mauled by a polar bear and a regular bear in the same day.

I would like to see either Picard and co., Sisko and co., or Janeway and co. again. But in reality, is this likely? ...Should we accept that any new Trek series in the future would be another prequel or in a future era (maybe the 25th century)?

I'll quote part of my post from a future of Star Trek thread:

After 21 overlapping seasons of the 24th century Trek and 4 TNG movies ending with the bomb Nemesis, the 24th century got ran totally into the ground like the Enterprise-D saucer on Veridian III... And besides, the old TV and film sets have been dismantled, and much of the costumes, props and models have been auctioned off so it wouldn't make much sense to try to revisite the old Trek in TV or films from a cost perspective.

With the exception of non-canon novels, etc., Trek-prime is dead. It was dead before the new Trek, it is still dead now, and it is never coming back. As difficult as it may be, it would be best if we all just accepted that it is dead gone for good...

TNG is my favorite Trek series. There is nothing wrong with being nostalgic, and you'll always have your 24th century Trek DVD collection. But if there is another TV series, I'm sure it will be set in the 23rd century of the new timeline.

They really didn't need to set TNG so far in the future of the TOS movies as it was, so it would get beyond rediculous for Trek to go into the 25th century. Is Buck Rogers going to be the captain of Enterprise-F?

And I sincerely doubt there will ever even be an alternate version (remake) of TNG. Starting with TNG, all Treks are spinoffs of TOS. Now we have a TOS-reboot so this is a chance for all new spinoffs. This is an opportunity to explore strange new things, seek out new characters and new adventures, and to boldly go where no Trek has gone before.

It's very unlikely we'll ever see the 24th C again onscreen. But never say never. They rebooted the Prince of Persia videogames, did a trilogy, rebooted it again, and now they've reverted to the earlier reboot! So it's VERY unlikely, but not impossible.
