River Song

Not sure how that might look if you went back and watched Series 5 with scenes between River, Amy, & Rory if she's their kid...

Just doesn't track.

That's what the thug in "Bruce Almighty" said, right before it really happened. Be sure to take lots of pictures.

I'm really enjoying River's story, and I love that it shows just how much thought Moffett has put into this. Who is River, what is her relationship with the Doctor, is she good, evil, somewhere in the middle?

Firstly, we don't actually know that Ten didn't meet up with River again, possibly multiple times. They may even have travelled together for an extended period during that wonderful "gap" they put in at the start of Ten's final episode.

It would appear, however, that she genuinely trusts the Doctor and cares for him. She was clearly upset when the Dalek shot him in Big Bang, and she handcuffed him to a wall and sacrificed herself to prevent him from killing himself.

However, we don't know that she didn't already know the outcome of the Library story. Her final scene in that episode, where she turns to the camera and wishes us all sweet dreams is quite an ambiguous scene, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if one day we'll look back at that scene and see it as quite a chilling one. We also don't know that she didn't have someone coming to the library after the Doc had left to download her consciousness out of the computer and into another body.

I think Moffatt has created a new character with as much longevity as the Doctor himself. We know that she's put in the storm cage for killing a great man, loved by many. Moffatt could already have it planned that River will be the cause of the death of 11. Whether we end up seeing that as a good or a bad thing, we'll have to wait and see.

If the 2 are meeting each other in opposite directions, River's character can easily be recast as a much younger actress for a later Doctor. We can watch her entire life in reverse, and then jump back to the very end as she returns from the Library in an artificial body.

We'll just have to wait and see. I think Moffatt is going to spin us a fine yarn, with an amazing character who's always going to be a step ahead of the Doctor, but also seemingly completely in awe of him. Fantastic stuff!

I think by the time of her death in the Library she's a good person; she sacrificed herself to save the Doctor (along with 4000 other people). But when she was younger, who knows? She could have been the complete opposite. She can shoot a gun, escape from prison, and isn't afraid to deal on the black market when she wants something. Maybe meeting and traveling with the Doctor changes her; he tends to have that effect on people.

I don't think he did; if so he would have remembered. He was pretty eager to leave her on her own at the Byzantium crash, and would have done so if Amy hadn't insisted on seeing a planet. Steven Moffet said in the Confidential that the Doctor had been dreading his next encounter with River, so I think this is the first one since he met her in the Library.

That would be sad; I can't imagine anyone else playing the character of River. Makeup artists can do wonders these days, hopefully they can work with Alex Kingston.

But as an Amy Joke they could meet River as a nine year old.

And Amy says "Do you stalk everyone's childhoods Doctor?"
