Men: have you ever punched a wall in anger?

I'm interested to know. I never have, but apparently many do. I find it sort of funny, but slightly scary too. Do share your wall-punching stories.

Yeah, broke my wrist. It still gives me problems from time to time. The wrist, that is. ;)

No and I doubt I will. Actually, the only person I know of who punched a wall was a woman. Why are you asking only men?

I once kicked in a kitchen cabinet. Not one of my finer moments.

I did date a guy that punched walls, on more than a few occasions too.

Why are you asking only men?

I was mad at my boss and hit my apartment's cheap door, not fist on but with the knuckle of my little finger. Punched a big dent right into that hollow-core door about 2" by 3", splintered wood and everything. Didn't even notice the scrape on my hand. Didn't even bruise my hand. Hubby didn't even turn his head; he just said, "You're fixing that."

I kicked an elevator door once, too. (Man, that particular boss was a total shit!) It went cock-angled and had to be repaired. I didn't own up to that one--damn thing broke down a lot.

Not since I was maybe 12 or so. There are a number of holes in my parents' basement though from my fist/feet.

No, never a wall. One time I got so frustrated with my old IBM laptop I punched its keyboard and shattered it. I was still finding and picking up keys from the carpet three days later.

No, at least since I was, say, 12 or 13 (at that time, hormones wreak all kind of havoc with your self-control). The rare times I've been really mad, I've been known to throw things: maybe it's less manly but it doesn't endanger your hands.

However, I never found that kind of behaviour emotionally rewarding: in fact, it just made me more angry. I've found that the best way to get rid of anger is to engage in physically exhausting activities like a very long run followed by a sound, dreamless sleep. In the morning, things were much more easy to put into perspective.

I'm also wondering why you only ask men... I've punched pillows... an IKEA chair... myself... Doesn't work well.

Punched out a window once . . . still don't know how it didn't cut me to pieces.
