Rudd vs. Gillard

Anyway on the chinese boat poeple they have not been coming here so often as it has been a couple of years ago
iIt is the afgans Pakistan and Indain and sri lankin people who are comeing by boat.
There was a ship stopped around Indonesia and these poeple were from pakistan or srilankia and they wouldnt get off the ship because they wanted to come here.
I think the policeys need to change so we are not getting indatated by thses people.
I took a bus towards Ringwood Victoria and was amazed at the ethics who are there
You could not see one white person
I am not racist but it is getting bad.
There are schools only for one kind of culture which is bad because these people will not intergrate with the rest of the country meannig Austraiia
This causes gang voliece which a couple of years ago you wouldnt see so much.
I know when we had the asain Italian and greek people come here in the 70s the intergrated and become part of our culture and taught us there ways which was exciting
I think there needs to be more intergration than divideing alot of these cultures in one area
i think there would be alot of happy people right across Australia
If l am wrong correct me

Well, after a busy day, I've listened to Rudd's last press conference and Gillard's first press conference, and they're both class acts.

If Gillard can walk the walk like she talked the talk, she could be pretty good. And I think the election will be called sooner rather than later.

Ah well. Interesting times and all that

Yes l did too.
I felt sorry for Rudd and he was nearly in tears as here was saying his goodbye speech
it was nice to see his family was there for support.
He was there at question time in parliment right at the back with a glum look
I think alot of the labor party stabbed him in the back
But it was unstandable why.
Since he would change his mind in a few policys
I am waiting to see what Julia will be like if she will be better or be just like the one who stood down
That is still something we have to wait on.
I also didnt know that Julia is 48 yrs old
She looks good for her age.
They media was also repeating the media converance so many times during the day
i was getting sick of it smiles

yes you're very very wrong.

I don't think Australia has ever had an influx of refugees via boat from China but we did get them from Vietnam in the wake of the Vietnam War. Then they were weren't labelled as "illegals" they were simply referred to as "boat people" and processed as refugees.

Secondly to re-interate 10x more illegals (that is people in Australia without authorisation such as staying after a visa has expired) on aircraft. We're talking about 1000s not hundreds and those people are illegals.

You will always find people of ethnic background who won't fully intergrate into Australia and you know who some of the worst are? The British - summed up quite well in the words of the father of school friend (original from Manchester and had been in Australia for 15 odd years) "I'm not Australian, I only live hear".

I also knew a person who was trying the find a high school that her eldest would be able to continue to learn Greek. This kid was 2nd Generation Australian but her parents were both of Greek extraction (both born in Australia) but they wanted their kids to learn Greek culture more than they want them to learn Australian.

On the hand I don't think you'll have look too hard to find people who've come out as refugees (as opposed to coming as migrants) who've fully intergrated into Australian society.

Have to agree with Marc, we've never had Chinese boat people. We've had some student refugees after Tienanmen Square.

Integration. I'd just point out that the generation that arrives here tends to stick to a little enclave of its own 'kind', and the following couple of generations blend in. Their skin might me a different colour or their eyes different but they sound like Aussies and act like Aussies, because they are Aussies.

For anyone interested or who missed it, here's Julia Gillard's excellent interview with Kerry O'Brien on the 7:30 report last night, some six hours after becoming Prime Minister. The program also includes highlights from Rudd's heartbreaking departure and the following Question Time.

My favourite bit? How after wanting to give him a hug earlier, Rudd made me laugh with the following: "They're a good team, led by a good Prime Minister. *pause* I meant Julia, not me, I guess I'm still the Prime Minister for... *checks watch*."

Well l think not too long ago they stopped the immagration of the sudans because they would not mix and intergrate with the rest of us.
I am not sure if this is true but they caused alot of fights with different ethics.
I feel terrible that l say this about people but it is true we have changed as a nation and l just hope we dont get worse as time ges on.
I just hope they make ajustments to certain areas and get poeple mizxing with each iother
To do this is to shut down thses schools for one ethic race and put all the schools together as one.

Also alot of the ethics should go to the bush and live in stead of just around city areas where most not all cause problems

i am not sure of this but didnt we have alot of Indonesain illgels at some stage.
I also remeber when the Tempa was the centre of the news too when the goverment was accused of tossing popele over board
I am not sure l have the right statement if not correct me

The Sudanese and other black Africans in Tasmania seem to be trying very hard to integrate into our community. However it isn't easy for them when this sort of thing happens.

As taxi driver Fayia Isaiah Lahai drove the brothers and a third man towards the city, Samuel said to him: "You're a black dog animal and not a human being."
Mr Lahai said: "I am a human being, just like you", to which Samuel replied: "You are not."
He punched the driver twice to the face and three times to his ear.
The men then got out of the cab without paying the fare, but not before Samuel poured the contents of his beer into the car.

Mr Jacobs condemned the attack on Mr Lahai, who he said was vulnerable as a taxi driver working at night.
The refugee from Sierra Leone had worked long hours to support his wife and four children while he finished his university studies, but had since given up the job out of fear, Mr Jacobs said.
Samuel Bigwood's lawyer Kim Baumeler argued the attacks were not racially motivated and her client had in fact enjoyed spending time with people of various races.
"He's mortified that these incidents are being portrayed as ... racist attacks," Ms Baumeler said.
That assertion was rejected after Mr Jacobs produced images from Samuel's MySpace page, which is full of racist slogans such as "100% white, 100% proud" and "f..k off we're full" on a map of Australia.
Justice Peter Evans said it was clear Samuel was "contemptuous of people of a different race" and prone to drunken violence against those he considered "his inferiors".

How can such people integrate easily when a portion of society harrasses them like this?

Well that is sad that some are called names which Australia seems to be getting like that too in the way we treat each other as people
But alot of ethics are doing this and they get into gangs and then go for different cultures because they dont want a certain type here.

Do you remeber the Sydeny Brawls at a certain beach
i cant remeber the name but it was Australians against the middleeastern race and they were getting into huge groups to bash each other.

.

Maybe you should do a little research before you post as you seem to be recalling thing wrongly.

The "Tampa" and the 'Children Overboard' incidents were two totally different events.

In the "Children Overboard' incident the Howard Government accused refugee passengers aboard SIEV 4 of deliberately throwing their children overboard in attempt to secure rescue and passage to Australia. This turned out to be a complete lie. The children ended up in the water only after the boat began to sink due to the strain of being towed.

In the Tampa incident a Norwegian ship rescued 438 asylum seekers (not illegal aliens) in international waters. Under international law people rescued like this are to be taken to the closest suitable port for medical treatment. Christmas Island (an Australian territory) was 6 hours away. The nearest Indonesian port was 12 hours away. The Australian government refused to allow the ship to go to Christmas island.
The ship was designed to carry only 27 crew and now it had an extra 438 people with no lifeboats for them if the ship ran into trouble.

The Australian government told the Norwegian captain that if he tried to enter Australian waters he would be arrested and charged with people smuggling. This captain had only done his proper duty by picking up people from a sinking ship.

Australia evaded its human rights responsibilities by refusing to take the refugees.

And young white men were just as responsible as the young Australian-born ethnic Lebanese men were for what happened during the 2005 Cronulla riots.

I see that you refer to the whites as Australians but seem to imply that the other group weren't Australian. They were all Australians.

Alot of these ethics do not want to intergrate with us Miss Chicken
They come to aus they take our jobs which we should have fisrt pick at it.
Plus half of these poeple can not speak engish which makes it hard for some to under stand them
They cause problems
We have had so much gang volience since we have had alot of this sort coming in.
We need more edcated people with skills not the crap what we do get now.

hey l also see you are trying to make me out as a racist well l do see problems with the australian nation and the problems that go with it.
We should have stayed like we were around 20yrs ago before we got all this coming in.

I am an Australian. I don't go around calling myself a "white Australian". I have friends that are of non Anglo-Saxon descent and they are just as much Australian as myself.

And many of the immigrants I know speak much better English than many white Australian born people I know.

By the way many of the African refugees that come here are very educated. Some of them have university degrees.

We should have stayed like we were around 20yrs ago before we got all this coming in.
20-30 years ago people were saying the same thing about the Vietnamese and the Hmong that you are saying about the Lebanese now.

Many of the immigrants who come end up taking jobs that Australians refuse to do.

Could you refrain from swearing at me Please
if you want to comment to me any further Miss Chicken do it by PM.

Then we could have a interesting disscussion

Well alot of africans and other cultures have to reedcate them selves here to gain a degree.
Most come into this country with degrees but they can not be used here
So they go through the unis here to study again.

.

I have no intentions of speaking to you via PM. I swore at you because you stated that "we are white Australians" (referring to yourself and me). I said "How in the fuck do you know what colour I am?"

You then edited out the remark about me being 'white' so I edited out my remark that was aimed at that remark.

I don't think the majority of people would have a problem with me saying "How in the fuck do you know what colour I am?"

Well l do have a problem with you swearing at me Miss Chicken
You do not have to behave in that way towards me or anyone in general.

If you do not want to discuss things by pm that is alright too
But it is a shame you have to act it out here in front of the world saying l am this or that...

Tough titties. Ignore me if you can't take it.

I swear a lot less than most people on this board and I have never had a complaint about the rare occasions I do swear.

Me saying a 'fuck' once in a while is nowhere near as bad as you judging an entire ethnic group on the behaviour of their worst members.

Angela 0777, you lost any support for your (poorly thought-out & supported) position the minute you switched to an ad hominim attack. Time to go back to school to learn to debate properly.
