Rudd vs. Gillard

No, we're being like this because Angela talks about people not speaking English properly, and THEN don't use it properly herself.

"Get al life"? Who is Al? :)

If she wants to be clearly understood, use the language properly.

And Tasmania is a state of Australia, like NSW or Queensland.

She needs to get real.

Note that I agree with her in the Uluru Stripper thread.

MLB, have you read the whole thing?

All l can say to this comment is that l am posting to the point that l am understood and you all seem to be able to comment back to me
There are alot of people worse than me.
There are poeple who can not spell to the extent where they could not go into the bank and write out a deposit sheet
I am not as bad as that
Again get a life
Maybe go outside and enjoy the sunshine instead of being on a computer abusing members on this site.
How many states are in Australia smiles.
Tasmanis is not a state of Australia

Precisely. I have never really picked on someone for their spelling and grammar before, not in the 9 years I have been posting on this board.

However I think that if someone complains about someone else's English ability they leave themselves wide open to criticism if they also have bad English. Angela is the pot calling the kettle black as far as her criticism of the English of migrants is concerned.

Oh you have not met me so you can not knock me for my spoken english
As you have just stated.
There is nothing wrong with commenting someone who comes to Australia and can not speak a word
it would be hard for that person to do things
So you have never picked on anyone until now you big cockatoo
Does it feel good.

Dont you have a life without your computer

I am not knocking you for your spoken language, I am knocking you for your written language.

You are knocking entire ethnic groups for their spoken English even though within any ethnic group there are a wide range of English speaking abilities. Some speak English poorly, others speak it well. Most Sudanese speak English well because English is one of the languages spoken in the Southern Sudan (where most Sudanese refugees come from).

Tasmanis is not a state of Australia

Are you really so uneducated to say that Tasmania is not a state of Australia?

From Wikipedia

Tasmania is an Australian island and state. It is located 240 kilometres (150 mi) south of the continent, from which it is separated by Bass Strait.

I, as a Tasmanian, vote in the Australian Federal elections.

Oh well you got me on that one.
Geez you are now bullying me on the edcation level
You are a real classic.
What else are you going to bully me about
Since we have the ball running

Is this guy taking the piss? He must be

I feel so sorry for Rudd. Where did he go wrong? Why can't Australians handle intelligent leaders like Rudd and Keating?

Nick, that is a good question, (he says, trying to get back on track.)

Rudd had enormous support. Then, in the last, ooo, I dunno, six months, he dropped the ball. He made a big deal out of the Emissions Trade stuff, and then when it fell apart he seemed to wash his hands of it. A lot of the public want it, but when it became too hard he walked away, and that was seen as a 'typical politician' move, and we didn't vote for that.

Since then I noticed he'd make all the popular announcements, and left the unpopular ones to his deputies, mostly Gillard and Swann. Rudd simply seemed to lose his way, and dithered, until finally someone had to step up and usurp him.

It was brutal, but had to be done. I think he should have had more of a chance, but seemed not to have been listening to advice. I wouldn't be surprised if he bounced back from this in the long run.

And another reason it had to be done: the prospect of an Abbott Government is just too scary to contemplate.

Yes l did feel sorry for Rudd losing the top positon but he wouldnt back down on the mining tax in Western Australia.
I dont think he was given a fair go and he should have been able to finish his term.

They're going to address the mining tax. I think the idea is quite right, but even I thought 40% was a bit steep.

Yes, the mining industry should be taxed the same way as any other Australian industry.

As we are shipping off all of our valuable resources to China at dirt cheap rates and buying them back as crappy DVD players and plastic clothing, we should certainly be getting more out of the deal... I don't understand the mining tax enough to comment on its implications, but it's no surprise that the people making the most noise are the ones that stand to lose money.

Maybe if these miners are threatening to pull out of the country the Government should strip them of their mineral rights and nationalise the industry?

I like that idea, but if that happened, the screaming would never stop.

Because someone somewhere would be fearful they were missing out, especially the likes of Twiggy Forrest.

:)

Well a lot of people would see such a takeover as akin to communism (which it is) and others - landowners - would start asking serious questions about our security of tenure. How can we be said to own land if the government can just step in and take it at will if it doesn't like our attitude?

(mind you the government can do that if they have a freeway or something to build. It's even in the constitution. We own land as long as the government is happy to let us hold it)

Wik nearly destroyed Howard in 1997, and that was just joint land rights over pastoral leases. Imagine the anarchy if the government decided to nationalise mining.

A Current Affair and Today Tonight are blights on society

Besides, if you are that concerned, take some responsibility and go to a farmer's market instead of Coles or Woolies. Buy direct from local Australian growers. Or best of all, grow your own stuff. You may pay more money but you will be securing Australia's future, cutting down on pollution and other environmental benefits.
