Games & Special Offers: As a member you can expect to get your hands on at least 4 games a month at no extra charge. Each month there will be a selection of 1x PSN game, 2x minis and 1x PS One classics. A list of the games available in month 1 and 2 can be found below. You will be able to download these games during the month they are available, until the new selection replaces these.

Once downloaded, these games are yours to keep and play as long as you are a member of PlayStation Plus. If your subscription lapses and then you re-subscribe the games you have already downloaded will reactivate, so you still have access to them. Additionally, if you delete one of these titles from your PS3 but decide you want to get it back then you can re-download from the Plus section of the Store if the games is still there, or, if the game has expired from the Plus section of the Store, then you can simply search for it on the Store and download it again at no extra cost.

Each month there will be 2 dynamic themes, 2 premium avatars and premium game elements/add-ons for you to download and many of these will be exclusive to members only. These are yours to keep forever once you have downloaded them.

Plus members will also be given exclusive PlayStation Store discounts each month that are above and beyond the current Store discounts available to everyone. These discounts will range from 20% – 50% and anything you buy with these is yours to keep and enjoy forever.

Finally, wherever possible we’ll be making sure that members are included in some selected demos and beta trials early, before they go live to everyone, so you can be the one to tell all your mates about the next big game they ‘must’ get.

As I mentioned, just the games themes and avatars are worth over £200* a year and with unrestricted access to 48+ games each year and all the other features, we think this service is great value for money.

Monthly is €15 and yearly is €50...

I will wait till they offer more incentives, but at this time the free PSN does everything i need it to do just fine.

Things that would make me sub...

50% discount on a ever monthly changing selection of PSN arcade games.
Free DLC for games lile map packs and the likes.

I cant really think of anything else .....but if those two thing were on it right now i would sub.

They're a victim of their own generosity. Basically everything you need is already free so it's hard to justify a charge. Unfortunately because of the success of Xbox live, there's no reason for the other companies not to charge for online. As long as people keep paying and accepting it as a necessary cost, even though the ps3 offers free online play, they'll continue to charge. With the Xbox it seems to actually be getting worse for silver members and I'm starting to get games that block features for silver members that have nothing to do with online play.

I spend little enough time on my PS3 that if it had an online fee attached I simply wouldn't own the console. Fuck 'em, I'm good with my PC here.

Oh God, it kind of sounds like half GameStop Edge card or whatever the hell it's called and half GameFly... no thanks.

I could see that being something they may do in the future, depending on how successful PSN+ becomes. Still, at the moment, they're offering you a few things at 100% discount - like Destruction Derby, which is the free PS1 game for the first month.

Free DLC for games lile map packs and the likes.

But that wouldn't be up to Sony, it would be up to whichever dev the game belongs to. The only way that would happen is if Sony did deals with the devs like they do over timed-exclusives. Can't see it, to be honest.

See, statments like this crack me up, seeing as you don't have to pay anything if you don't want. It's not like Sony are pulling a Microsoft here and saying that you can't play online if you don't shell out monthly/quarterly/yearly. This is entirely voluntary.

Yeah, there's no real incentive to get Plus... short of taking away free online play. If you got to keep the games you download or they could guarantee a discount from Store purchases, that might make it worth it. As it stands, kind of a bust.

Try again.

Try what again? Pointing out the stupidity of your reactionary statement? I think I did an adequate enough job the first time round, but if you insist; there is no online fee attached at all. Sony has made that quite clear on numerous occasions, so what exactly is the point your trying to make here?

Nothing on there I'd want to pay for - I use my PS3 as a media centre more than a games system and this isn't going to change that...

Not only did you ignore the context of my post, i.e. in reply to darthraidr's "unfortunately because of the success of Xbox live, there's no reason for the other companies not to charge for online. As long as people keep paying and accepting it as a necessary cost, even though the ps3 offers free online play, they'll continue to charge", it doesn't even make sense read otherwise, on account of that 'if' in there which clearly stands in contrast to this 'PSN+' which has actually been announced.

Who was the one making stupid reactionary statements again?

Something wrong with the quote button then, or do you just expect everyone to psychically know what part of the discussion you're responding to?

And it was Capt. Vulcan you were supposedly replying to.
